Welcome back, college football fans! Week 4 is finally here and we kick the DFS CFB week off with a nice 3-game slate on Friday night. Both FanDuel and DraftKings have all three matchups on their slates and the action gets going at 8 pm ET.

The Air Force-Boise State matchup has the highest over/under of the slate at 55 total points, but the other two matchups are both projected for at least 50 combined points as well. The biggest favorite on the slate is Boise State as 8-point favorites, but Louisiana Tech are close behind as 7.5-point favorites over FIU.

Now, let’s dive into the specific players that are worth rostering in both cash game and tournament lineups for this Week 4 DFS CFB Friday night slate!

QUARTERBACK

Tyler Huntley - Utah ($7,200 DK / $9,700 FD)

Huntley is the most expensive QB on this slate for both sites - and deservedly so. Although the Utah offense is run-heavy, Huntley is a dual-threat who can provide fantasy points in multiple ways - a trait that’s so invaluable at the quarterback position in CFB DFS. The senior hasn’t had to use his legs much this season against easy opponents, but he did rack up double-digit carries in six of nine games a year ago and already has one rushing TD this year. Last week, Huntley got it done mostly through the air with 282 passing yards and three touchdowns on 19 attempts. On Friday, he gets a favorable passing matchup against a USC defense that’s allowing a slate-high 245 passing yards per game and just gave up 299 passing yards and a rushing score to BYU’s QB a week ago.

Kedon Slovis - USC ($7,000 DK / $9,200 FD)

Since taking over as the Trojans’ starting QB a couple weeks ago, Slovis has been passing a ton and there’s little reason to expect otherwise this time around in a matchup against Utah’s defense. The true freshman threw for 377 passing yards and three touchdowns on 33 attempts in a Week 2 win against Stanford and then followed that performance up with 281 passing yards and two scores on 34 attempts last week. Slovis will likely be throwing the ball a ton this week as he now faces a Utah defense that’s very good against the run - forcing USC to the air more often in order to move the ball effectively. We could see another 30+ pass attempts, 300 yards and a couple touchdowns yet again from Slovis in a game that USC is four-point underdogs.

J’mar Smith - Louisiana Tech ($5,700 DK / $8,400 FD)

For his price on both sites, Smith seems like a pretty nice Super-Flex play because he’ll bring consistency, efficiency and upside in this matchup with Florida International. Smith opened the season strong with 330 passing yards and two touchdowns on 51 attempts against Texas but has since seen his numbers go down against lesser opponents the last two weeks. So far, the Louisiana Tech QB has thrown five touchdowns against just one pick (which came against Texas) and has completed 68.6% of his passes while averaging 272 passing yards per game. The Tech defense is below-average at this point and they could allow FIU to hang around - which would force Smith to the air more often than he did the last two weeks.

Also Consider:

Hank Bachmeier - Boise State ($6,900 DK / $9,400 FD)

Donald Hammond III - Air Force ($6,600 DK / $8,800 FD)

RUNNING BACK

Zack Moss - Utah ($7,600 DK / $10,000 FD)

Moss is the clear top play of the entire slate across every position and you’ll need him in cash and GPP’s to finish in the green. The Utah bell-cow back headlines this run-heavy offense as he’s averaging 6.5 yards per carry, 124 rushing yards per game and has found the end zone four times so far this season. Moss wasn’t needed much the last two weeks against cupcake opponents but we saw massive usage from in Utah’s Week 1 win over BYU - 29 carries for 187 yards and a score. We could easily see a similar performance from him this week in what should be a closer game against USC - especially since the Trojans’ defense is allowing 145 rushing yards per game. The only worry for Moss’ upside is if Huntley steals some rushing touchdowns away from him in the red zone - but that’s easily solvable if you play both in the same lineup.

Kadin Remsberg - Air Force ($5,800 DK / $9,100 FD)

As the starting running back in the Air Force triple-option rushing attack, Remsberg should see a ton of carries with the potential to score multiple times. The junior back had a massive workload in last week’s win over Colorado with 146 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. In the season opener, Remsberg wasn’t needed as much in a blowout win as he only saw nine carries for 62 yards but found the end zone twice. The Boise State defense has been decent against the run this year but facing a triple-option offense like Air Force’s is a tall task for any team. On a slate with a ton of split backfields and no other clear plays outside of Zack Moss, Remsberg should be popular in cash games - especially on DK.

Jaqwis Dancy - Louisiana Tech ($4,900 DK / $8,100 FD)

The running back options on this slate are pretty limited outside of Utah’s Zack Moss, so we need to find some value at the position. There’s a chance Dancy could be that cheap play to help you win GPP’s on Friday. The FIU defense is allowing a slate-worst 198 rushing yards per game so there should be plenty of DFS points available in this Louisiana Tech backfield - it’s just a matter of who that will be. The Bulldogs are splitting their carries among three different running backs but it’s Dancy who’s been the most productive thus far. His two rushing touchdowns currently lead the team and his 105 rushing yards would be the highest if not for Justin Henderson’s 75-yarder last week. Plus, Dancy adds some receiving upside as he has five receptions through three games. It’s interesting to see Dancy listed as Tech’s most expensive on RB on FanDuel but is cheaper than Israel Tucker on DK. Limit your exposure to Dancy for tournaments but he has the potential to return 5x value on DraftKings.

Also Consider:

Vavae Malepeai - USC ($6,400 DK / $9,600 FD)

Anthony Jones - FIU ($5,300 DK / $7,400 FD)

WIDE RECEIVER

Khalil Shakir - Boise State ($6,700 DK / $9,000 FD)

Through Boise State’s first three games, Shakir leads the Broncos’ receiving corps in targets (25), receptions (17) and receiving yards (237) with one touchdown grab. He’s clearly QB Hank Bachmeier’s most trusted target in the passing game right now and he’s a better quick-strike, possession receiver than CT Thomas too. In Boise State’s two close games this season, the offense threw the ball 51 and 34 times, respectively, and we could see a similar game-plan this week because Air Force’s defense is stout against the run. Shakir is a solid play in all formats on both sites but he’s definitely more attractive on DK as he’s slightly cheaper than Thomas - but is more expensive than his teammate on FD.

Adrian Hardy - Louisiana Tech ($6,000 DK / $7,600 FD)

Louisiana Tech’s No. 1 wideout was pretty quiet to start the season but he finally broke out for six catches for 95 yards in last week’s win. Although he still hasn’t found the end zone, hopefully this was the type of performance to get Hardy going. The junior was Tech’s top returning receiver from last season when he racked up team-high’s in receptions (75) and receiving yards (1,145). He’s still the team’s leading receiver in 2019 but we’re still waiting on one of those dominant games of nine catches and 100-plus yards - something he did four times a year ago. Because of his relatively slow start, we get Hardy at a discount on FD and a solid cash price on DK this week.

Michael Pittman Jr. - USC ($5,600 DK / $8,600 FD)

Since Kedon Slovis took over as USC’s starting QB two weeks ago, Pittman has actually been the freshman’s top receiving target despite being overshadowed by teammate Tyler Vaughns. Over the last two weeks, Pittman has a team-leading 18 targets and he’s turned that into 15 receptions for 178 yards and two touchdowns - including a nine grabs for 95 yards and two scores last week against BYU. Vaughns - also in play here - had a massive Week 1 performance but has seen his targets and receptions slightly dip with Slovis running the offense. It’s Pittman who’s seen an uptick in his receiving numbers, meanwhile, and presents a great cash game play at his price on both sites. As mentioned above, Utah’s defense is very good against the run which should force USC to throw more - meaning likely even more targets for Pittman as Slovis’ favored option.
