Welcome to the fantasy hockey waiver wire report! As usual, every week, the weekly waiver wire report will help you target some players that you should be adding, or monitoring, on the waiver wire. You’ll want to check back through the week to see if players are added. The fantasy hockey season is a long one, but staying on top of the waiver wire will most certainly help keep your team competitive. Let’s see who we should be targeting this week.

Zach Hyman - Toronto Maple Leafs - Winger

Zach Hyman is 49% owned on Yahoo!, which is crazy because he should be closer to 100% given the fact that he is skating on the top line and top power play unit. The Leafs have loaded their top power play unit with all the big boys, and Hyman is part of that group. He has seven points this season, but that doesn’t mean that he should be forgotten. If he’s available, you need to add him, NOW!

Christian Dvorak - Arizona Coyotes - Center

We should be talking more about the fact that Christian Dvorak has 11 points in as many games, but it’s easy to forget players who play in Arizona. The 25-year-old is off to a red hot start, and this might not just be a wave to ride. We know he has talent, but when you play on a team that doesn’t generate much offence, it’s hard to rack up points. For now, he needs to be on your fantasy team, so if he’s still on the waiver wire, it might be a good idea to add him.

Pekka Rinne - Nashville Predators - Goalie

Last week I spoke about James Reimer, and since then, he’s been #NotGood. Now, I don't think that has anything to do with me, but It’s a funny coincidence. With games being cancelled due to COVID-19 and injuries, we need to find some help, and this week, It might be Pekka Rinne. The veteran goalie has put together back-to-back decent starts, and Jusse Saros continues to play like Martin Jones. If this continues, Rinne may be in line for more starts. Will he be good? Who knows, but maybe he has enough in the tank to help fantasy owners navigate the next few weeks. He’s a risky add if you need goaltending help.

Philipp Kurashev - Chicago Blackhawks - Center

Two weeks ago, Pius Suter was skating on the top line for the Blackhawks, but things have changed, and now, Philipp Kurashev has taken that spot, and the kid has been decent. He only has six points this season, but skating on a line with Patrick Kane is a gift, and that could help the rookie collect more points down the road. He is widely available across most platforms, so in deeper formats, taking a chance on him isn’t the worst idea. Let’s check back again in a few weeks and see if this play worked out.

Max Comtois - Anaheim Ducks - Winger

Should we really be adding players off the waiver wire who play for the Anaheim Ducks? On most days no, but Max Comtois has earned the right to be part of the discussion. The Montreal native has five goals in 13 games this season, which is pretty considering he sees third line minutes, and plays for the Ducks. This is a depth move for fantasy owners in large leagues, but who knows, if he can finish the season with 20-goals, that would be exceptional. If anything, you drop him in a couple of weeks and just never add anything from this team ever again.
