Welcome to the fantasy hockey waiver wire report! As usual, every week, the weekly waiver wire report will help you target some players that you should be adding, or monitoring, on the waiver wire. You’ll want to check back through the week to see if players are added. The fantasy hockey season is a long one, but staying on top of the waiver wire will most certainly help keep your team competitive. Let’s see who we should be targeting this week.

Chris Driedger - Florida Panthers - Goalie

While the Panther are off to a great start, their situation goal is starting to be a problem. Sergei Bobrovsky has been #notGood to start the season, while backup Chris Driedger has been lights out. If this continues, we may see Driedger pick up a few more starts in the weeks to come, and maybe even take over the starting job. If the 26-year-old is available on the waiver wire, he needs to be added.

K’Andre Miller - New York Rangers - Defence

With Anthony DeAngelo now out of the picture, the New York Rangers are going to need someone to step up and take over his role, and K’Andre Miller could be that player. He’s seen an increase in ice time over the last few games, and already has four points in eight games this season. He isn’t seeing any power play time, but that should change over the next few days. He’s a perfect buy-low candidate for a fantasy team that needs some help on the blueline.

James Reimer - Carolina Hurricanes - Goalie

With the news that Petr Mrazek may be out of the lineup for an extended period of time, James Reimer becomes a must add goalie in fantasy hockey. The former fourth-round pick in 2006 has played very well to start the season-- posting a 1.99 GAA, a 918 SV% and three wins-- and the added starts to come certainly won’t hurt his value. Can he maintain this dominance? Who knows, but not adding him to your team allows someone else to take that risk. He’s only 32% owned in Yahoo! leagues, so there’s a good chance he’s still very much available in your league.

Jordan Greenway - Minnesota Wild - Winger

I was shocked to see that Jordan Greenway has ten points in as many games for the Minnesota Wild. The 23-year-old is making the most of his opportunity playing in the top-6, but he still isn’t seeing power play minutes, so that does limit his upside. If he continues on this trend, he will force head coach Dean Evason to give him some minutes. The Wild are in the bottom half of the league in most offensive categories, but Greenway has done enough up till now to earn a spot on a fantasy team, even as a depth player.

Kevin Lankinen - Chicago Blackhawks - Goalie

I can’t believe I’m recommending a goalie from the Chicago Blackhawks as a waiver wire pickup, but here we are. Kevin Lankinen is off to a red hot start, despite playing on a team that is terrible. He has a 1.97 GAA, a .937 SV% and a 3-1-2 record. Those are some exceptional numbers for a goalie that was unknowing going into this season. He’s not going to win many games this season because the goal support isn’t there, but his numbers are elite, and in deeper formats, he deserves to be owned. With goalies missing time due to injury and COVID-19, having too many isn’t a problem. He’s going to cool off at some point, but for now, just ride the wave.
