Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. The injury report is going to keep you up to date on all the important injuries going on around the league, and how that might affect your fantasy hockey team. Make sure to check back regularly for any updates. Let’s take a look at some players that are either ruled out, or that we need to monitor.

NAME POS. TEAM INJURY EXP. RETURN DATE ANALYSIS
Artemi Panarin LW NYR PERSONAL UNDETERMINED After missing some time due to injury, the Rangers have granted Artemi Panarin a leave of absence from the team as he deals with a personal matter. The allegations against him are pretty serious, and we don’t know how true they really are. This isn’t what fantasy owners need right now, and who knows how long this plays out, or when we can expect him to return to the lineup. For now, it’s best to stash him on your bench and wait for more information to come out
Jacob Markstrom G CGY UPPER-BODY DAY-TO-DAY Jacob Markstrom is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury that he sustained at some point last week. The veteran goalie had struggled over the last two games, so maybe there was something bothering him, and the team decided that it might be best to let him rest and come back 100%. The injury doesn’t sound serious, so hopefully he can return towards the end of the week.
Teuvo Teravainen RW CAR UPPER-BODY DAY-TO-DAY Teuvo Teravainen will miss his second game due to an upper-body injury and there is no timetable for his return. Every suspects that the Hurricane forward is dealing with a concussion, but head coach Rob Brind’Amour wouldn’t confirm that news, saying only that Teuvo “didn't feel right.” Fantasy owners will want to stash him on IR for the next few games while we wait for more news to come out.
Elvis Merzlikins CBJ G UPPER-BODY WEEK-TO-WEEK Teuvo Teravainen will miss his second game due to an upper-body injury and there is no timetable for his return.
Thmoas Chabot D OTT UPPER-BODY DAY-TO-DAY The Ottawa defenceman has missed the last three games due to an upper-body injury, but he was seen at practice on the top power play unit, so he could make a return to the lineup as early as tonight against Montreal. Even if he isn’t ready to go tonight, it looks promising that returns before the weekend.
Dylan Strome C CHI CONCUSSION DAY-TO-DAY Blackhawks’ forward Dylan Strome was held out of practice on Monday due to a concussion, and we don’t know if he will be ready to face off against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The expectation is he won’t be ready, so if he is on your fantasy team, it might just be a good idea to stash him on your bench short-term. If this injury starts to drag out past a week, then we can start consider looking to the waiver wire for a more permanent solution.
Jaden Schwartz LW STL LOWER-BODY DAY-TO-DAY The Blues forward has now missed the last four games due to a lower-body injury, and we don’t know if he will be available for Wednesday’s matchup against Los Angeles. He wasn’t placed on IR, so the expectation was that the injury wasn’t too serious, but Schwartz hasn’t played in over a week and we aren’t getting any new information. If you can add him to your injury reserve list, do so, but for others who can’t let’s keep holding out here for at least another few days.
Frederik Andersen G TOR LOWER-BODY DAY-TO-DAY Frederik Andersen was expected to get the start against Calgary on Monday, but it was announced that he wouldn’t play due to a lower-body injury. We don’t know when the Leafs netminder may have suffered the injury, but it doesn’t look like he will be out of the lineup for too long. Toronto hosts Calgary again on Wednesday, so let’s see if the veteran can return for that game.
Joe Thornton LW TOR LOWER-BODY DAY-TO-DAY After missing an extended period of time due to a rib injury, Joe Thornton has once again found himself on the injury list, this time with an undisclosed injury. We do know that it’s a lower-body issue, so it isn’t a reaggravation of his rib injury, but when he might return to the lineup is anyone's guess. At this point, it might just be ebay to drop the veteran and look for someone else on the waiver wire.
Zach Hyman LW TOR UNDISCLOSED DAY-TO-DAY Sticking with the Leafs, winger Zach Hyman is also out of the lineup due to an undisclosed injury. He did block a shot Monday against Montreal, but finished the game with no issue. Hyman wasn’t able to suit up against Calgary and is now considered day-to-day. With Thornton already out of the lineup, the Leafs are starting to wear thin on the left side. We should know more in the next 24 hours about his injury and if he will be ready to face the Flames on Wednesday.
Robin Lehner G VGK UPPER-BODY DAY-TO-DAY Robin Lehner didn’t travel with the team to Lake Tahoe and still isn’t ready to return to action. The veteran hasn’t played since February 7th, but the team hasn’t placed him on IR. This is extremely frustrating for owners who want that extra roster spot, but can’t stash him on IR without the team doing it first. On top of all that, Marc-Andre Fleury has been spectacular in his absence. When he’s ready to return, we may see both goalies spit time, which isn’t ideal for anyone, but for now, we just need to keep playing the waiting game and hope that he can return to action sooner rather than later.
