Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. The fantasy hockey playoffs are here, and so are the injuries. You can’t avoid them, but we can get a head start and plan around them. The injury report will be out every week to help you plan the rest of your fantasy hockey week. Let’s take a look at which key players are dealing with injuries.

Nathan MacKinnon - Colorado Avalanche - Center

Injury: lower-body, one-to-two weeks.

The Colorado Avalanche are dealing with a bunch of injuries, and you can now add Nathan MacKinnon to the list. He is expected to miss one-to-two weeks with a lower-body injury. He left Monday’s game against Los Angeles early, and did not return. Colorado is already missing their starting goalie (Grubauer), their best defenceman (Makar), and now they are without MacKinnon. Fantasy hockey playoffs have just begun, which makes the timing of this injury even worse. Hopefully it’s just one week, but we won’t know for sure until the beginning of next week.

John Gibson - Anaheim Ducks - Goalie

Injury: Groin, day-to-day.

Anaheim goalie John Gibson has missed the last two games due to a groin injury, and there is still no timetable as to when he might be ready to return. He wasn’t able to back up on Sunday, and it looks like he won’t be ready to go for Wednesday’s game against St. Louis. It hasn’t been a great season for Gibson, but that has more to do with the trash can team playing in front of him. Hopefully he can return to the lineup this week and be a factor down the stretch for fantasy owners.

Victor Hedman - Tampa Bay Lightning - Defence

Injury: lower-body, day-to-day.

What an absolutely brutal week it's been for injuries. Already without the services of their captain, Steven Stamkos, the Lighting are dealing with Victor Hedman’s injury, which is considered to be day-to-day. He’s missed the last two games due to injury, but he was on the ice for morning skate on Monday, so maybe he’s close to returning. Tampa Bay is in action again on Thursday, so we should get an update on his condition before that game.

Alexander Radulov - Dallas Stars - Winger

Injury: illness, day-to-day.

Dallas Stars forward Alexander Radulov has missed the last two games due to illness, and his status for Thursday’s game is still undecided. This illness seems to be serious enough that the Russian forward hasn’t been able to play. The team may want to make sure that it doesn’t spread around the room, especially with what is going on around the world with the CoronasVirus. The Stars still have two games to play this week, so hopefully Radulov can return to play both those games.

Torey Krug - Boston Bruins - Defence

Injury: upper-body, day-to-day.

Torey Krug was unable to play in Boston’s last game against the Flyers, and his status for their next game against Buffalo is still up in the air. We do know that he’s dealing with an upper-body injury, but we don’t know just how serious that injury could be. Krug was unable to take part in Monday’s practice, so that’s usually a good indicator that it could be more than just a one game absence. Boston has back-to-back games Friday and Saturday, so maybe the 28-year-old will be able to return for *maybe* one of those games. We should know more information towards the end of the week, but for right now, scout the waiver wire for a backup plan.
