Welcome back to another fantasy hockey season! As usual, every week, the weekly waiver wire report will help you target some players that you should be adding, or monitoring, on the waiver wire. You can’t win a championship with the team you drafted, which means, you’ll need to be active on the waiver wire to help replace injured players, and other who are just not getting the job done. Let’s get right into it for this week.

Jakob Silfverberg - Anaheim Ducks - Winger

It has been a real nice start to the season for veteran forward Jakob Silfverberg. The 29-year-old has seven points (4G, 3A) in eight games, 17 shots on goal and is a plus-9. The Ducks have had a great start to their season, so Silfverberg’s success is probably due to that. He’s under 20% owned on most fantasy hockey platforms, so if you need a winger short, or long-term, he’s a pretty nice option. Maybe he fades as the season goes on, but right now, he’s worth a roster spot.

Connor Brown - Ottawa Senators - Winger

We all know that the Ottawa Senators are going to be #NotGood this season, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have fantasy hockey relevant players. Connor Brown hasn’t scored a goal this season, but he has five assists and is playing just over 20 minutes per game. That is a lot of ice time for a forward. He’s getting the opportunity to play a lot, and that will translate into goals, and hopefully, a lot of points. He’s not a sexy pick up, but it would be dumb to ignore him considering how much time he spends on the ice. If you need an extra player on teh bench, Brown is by far a great add.

Ryan Dzingel - Carolina Hurricanes - Winger

We need to talk about just how good Carolina’s third line is. The trio of Erik Haula, Martin Necas and Ryan Dzingel have been spectacular to start the season, but they are still on the waiver wire in a lot of fantasy hockey leagues. The best of the three is for sure Dzingel, so why is he only 26% owned on Yahoo? He has seven points (2G, 5A) so far this season and is playing a healthy 15 minutes per game, while seeing time on the second power play unit. Maybe he doesn’t continue this hot streak all season, but the Hurricanes are a very good team and their scoring touch isn’t going to go away. Dzingel is  a nice add in deeper formats if you needa player to start for you on a regular basis.

Shayne Gostisbehere - Philadelphia Flyers - Defence

What a garbage start to the season for Gostisbehere. In five games, the 26-year-old has zero points, 11 shots on goal and is a plus-one. This isn’t the type of start fantasy owners were hoping for, but it has caused some to drop him, because he’s only 44% owned in Yahoo!. He can’t be this bad all season long. He has too much talent to not collect points. If he’s available on the waiver wire, pick him up and ride out this cold spell. Things will change, right?

Jack Campbell - Los Angeles Kings - Goalie

It has not been a good start to the season for Jonathan Quick. The veteran goalie has a real shot at losing his starting job, yet Jack Campbell is only 7% owned in Yahoo! leagues. He got back-to-back starts earlier in the week, and even if his team didn’t win them (hard to do that when LA hasn’t scored a goal in the last two games), Campbell at least gave his team a chance. If you need a goalie in depper formats, Campbell is a nice option to consider.
