Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. The injury report is going to keep you up to date on all the important injuries going on around the league, and how that might affect your fantasy hockey team. Make sure to check back regularly for any updates. Let’s take a look at some players that are either ruled out, or that we need to monitor.

Ryan Getzlaf - Anaheim Ducks

Ryan Getzlaf suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday’s game against Los Angeles and is considered week-to-week. It’s a huge blow to the team, and to fantasy owners, especially with how well he’s been playing since the start of the season. The veteran is still worth holding onto, so if possible, stash him on the IR and want for another update next week.

Tony DeAngelo - Carolina Hurricanes

Carolina defenceman Tony DeAngelo has missed the last three days due to COVID-19 and is still about a week away from being able to return to action. COVID cases are starting to wreak havoc on some team, and DeAngelo is just the latest player to get hit by hit. He’s been off to a monster start this season -- scoring four goals and adding 15 assists -- so everyone is hoping he can return to action when eligible.

Darcy Kuemper - Colorado Avalanche

Colorado goalie Darcy Kuemper was a late scratch against the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 1st, and hasn’t played in a game since. He’s considered day-to-day, but he’s now missed four games, and we aren’t exactly sure what’s going on. We shouldn’t panic, but it’s important to monitor this situation if he isn’t able to play any games this weekend.

Tyler Bertuzzi - Detroit Red Wings

The only unvaccinated player in the NHL has tested positive for COVID-19. Tyler Bertuzzi will now be out of the lineup for at least ten days due to the positive test, and we’ll see how he feels once ready to return. His symptoms appear to be mild and he’s eligible to return as of December 14th.

Brendan Gallagher, Sami Niku, Jeff Petry, Josh Anderson and Alex Romanov - Montreal Canadiens

What a laundry list of injuries for the Montreal Canadiens. All these injuries have come in the last week, and considering how many they were dealing with before, it’s no surprise they are terrible this season. Brendan Gallaher and Sami Niku are out due to COVID-19, Jeff Petry and Josh Anderson both have upper-body injuries and Alex Romanov broke his nose on a hit. At this point, if you have a Canadiens’ skater on your fantasy hockey team, there’s a good chance he’s going to get hurt.

Igor Shesterkin - New York Rangers

Igor Shesterkin left Friday’s game to a lower-body injury and didn’t return. Everyone was fearing the worst, but it looks like the Rangers’ goaltender is only dealing with a minor injury, With Gerard Gallant even saying “it’s not as bad as it looks.” That’s obviously good news for everyone, but he still has to undergo an MRI to determine just how long he’s going to be out of the lineup. Expect another update on his condition early in the week.

Mitch Marner - Toronto Maple Leafs

Mitch Marner is considered day-to-day following a collision with teammate Jake Muzzin in practice on Friday. He didn’t finish practice and seemed to have gotten the worst of the hit, but it doesn’t sound like he will miss any time. If he were to miss Saturday’s game against Winnipeg, then we can start to worry, but that seems unlikely.
