Welcome to the Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report! The waiver wire is key to winning. It helps you improve on the team you drafted, and to help patch holes when players go down due to injury. It’s something most managers will monitor daily. Let’s take a look at who we should be adding this week.

Brock Nelson - New York Islanders - Center

Brock Nelson has seven goals and 13 shots on goal in the last two games. He is unstoppable right now, and while this hot streak will come to an end, it’s best to jump on this hot streak and ride it out. He’s under 50% owned on Yahoo!, so good chance he’s still on the waiver wire waiting to be added to your team.

Pius Suter - Detroit Red Wings - Center/Winger

With Dylan Larkin out of the lineup due to personal reasons, Pius Suter has moved up to the top line and is seeing a nice boost in minutes. This won’t last forever, but if you’re a Larkin owner, Suter is almost a must add. It’s a short-term solution, but one that could save you losing a week.

Sean Monahan - Calgary Flames - Center

Is Sean Monahan #NotGood, or is he just struggling? You can’t expect a player to start producing if you’re playing him on the fourth line, and giving him top power play minutes seems like a mistake, but here we are. Monahan has four points in the last four, and is starting to shoot the puck more. He shouldn’t be playing on the fourth line, and at some point, he’s going to move up the lineup. This hot streak might move him up sooner rather than later.

MacKenzie Blackwood - New Jersey Devils - Goalie

MacKenzie Blackwood is a pretty good goalie, so why is he only 58% owned in Yahoo! Leagues? He’s a starting goalie who is healthy and should see the bulk of the starts moving forward, so to see him widely available os head scratching. If for whatever reason he is available in your league, scoop him up and don’t ever drop him.

Noah Dobson - New York Islander - Defence

Noah Dobson does a lot of good things, but everyone is forgetting about him because he doesn’t rack up points. He can shoot the puck, throw some hits and block shots, so in a category league, he does everything you want a defenceman to do. Despite all that, he’s only 16% owned in Yahoo! leagues and dropping every week. Points are important in every league, but in leagues with hits/blocked shots, Dobson should be on your team, period. The points will come at some point, but for now, be happy with everything else he’s doing.
