Below are game breakdowns followed by example lineups for tonight’s three-game NHL DFS main slate.

Calgary @ Ottawa

The Flames are the obvious chalk of the slate as -250 favorites in Ottawa. Their top line will see heavy ownership, and you’ll need exposure to them in cash games. All three are quite pricey on both sites with the exception of Johnny Gaudreau who is priced fairly on DK. Mark Giordano is the D-man on the top PP unit and is another chalk option.

Second liner Matthew Tkachuk has a spot on the top PP unit with the top line, and he’s priced ridiculously well on FD. Second line center Mikael Backlund is priced better on FD than DK, so he and Tkachuk make sense as a mini-stack there. Sam Bennett is the third member of that line and he’s only $300 over the minimum on FD.

David Rittich will start in net for the Flames and is an obvious cash game option as the goalie for by far the biggest favorite of the slate. Rittich will be easy to fit into FD lineups, but he’s $400 more expensive than any other goalie on DK.

STL @ MIN

Minnesota is a slight favorite at home against a St. Louis team that played last night. We’re guessing St. Louis goes with Jake Allen in net since Jordan Binnington started last night. Normally we’d want to avoid a good defensive Blues team, but they don’t have to be avoided when Allen and his .901 SV% are involved.

St. Louis’ top line is an excellent possession line you want to avoid, and Minny’s second and third lines have taken turns taking on opposing top lines in their last two home games. However, Eric Staal’s line has not drawn that matchup, so Staal’s line is the play. Staal is joined both at even strength and on the power play by Jason Zucker. Both guys are priced well on both sites, and Zucker is priced particularly well on FD. Jared Spurgeon plays on a PP unit with Staal, and his pair plays some with Staal’s line as well.

In GPPs, St. Louis’ top line is an option. As mentioned, they’re a stellar possession trio, and they have been racking up points of late. The Wild are a tough matchup on paper, but they’re not at full strength with Mikko Koivu injured and Charlie Coyle now in Boston. Vladimir Tarasenko is priced ridiculously on FD, so the spot for a stack of Senko, Ryan O’Reilly and Jaden Schwartz is on DK.

Devan Dubnyk is an option on DraftKings with the Wild being a home favorite. Dubnyk is $700 cheaper than Rittich, so he could be a cheaper alternative in cash or a GPP play.

Winnipeg @ Arizona

This game has an over/under of six goals, and the Jets are only a slight favorite, so both teams are options. When picking Jets, you’d prefer to avoid Arizona’s top defensive pair, and they take on opposing top lines in home games. As a result, we’re leaning toward the second line of Bryan Little, Nikolaj Ehlers and Kyle Connor. Connor has a spot on the top PP unit, and Little and Ehlers play on the second unit. Ehlers is priced nicely on both sites, and Little and Connor are priced better on DK. Defenseman Tyler Myers plays a lot with the Little line at even, and he plays on the second PP unit.

The unit to avoid when picking Coyotes is Winnipeg’s third line. Arizona matches lines up evenly at home, so Arizona’s third is to be avoided. Unfortunately, Clayton Keller is playing on the third line right now. He’s priced well on DK, but the individual matchup isn’t good today. The best Arizona play is probably a mini-stack of Derek Stepan and defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson as they play together at even strength and on the power play. They’re priced a bit better on DK than FD.

The only goalie play here would be Darcy Kuemper on DK where he’s only $7,200. It might make sense to include him in a GPP lineup that contains the Stepan/Ekman-Larsson mini-stack.
