Guards

Brandon Anderson - Brown - FD $7,200

On FanDuel, the Brown @ St. John’s game has the highest over/under on the board. St. John’s plays at the 11th fastest pace out of 353 teams, so the Brown Bears are going to see a ton of extra possessions here. Brandon Anderson is the leader of this team and he plays almost every minute in competitive games. Through eight games, Anderson is averaging 20.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2 steals in 37.5 minutes. He’s been over 30 fantasy points in all but one game and missed the mark by just four in a blowout. Anderson is the safest play on FanDuel at guard and you can guarantee 35 fantasy points with a ceiling in the 50’s if this game stays close. He’s not expensive enough to consider fading in any format.

Jalen Harris - Nevada - DK $8,200

On DraftKings, Nevada @ BYU is our fast-paced game to target. Similarly to Anderson, Jalen Harris is an underdog superstar guard that’s facing a team that plays a lot faster than what Nevada is used to. It’s going to give Harris, a guy who already puts up 30+ fantasy points on a regular basis, even more opportunity. Both of these teams play fast and they’re going to play into each other’s speed. Harris has been on fire of late, scoring 20+ in four of his last five and getting up to 31 on Saturday night at Air Force. BYU is extremely weak defensively and the 6’5 freak of an athlete is going to have his way in transition. Harris is going to have a field day with this pace and you can lock him in for 30 DraftKings points with an upside we haven’t seen yet.

Anthony Cowan - Maryland - FD $6,900 DK $7,800

Maryland is facing off with Penn State, who plays at a pretty fast pace. Anthony Cowan Jr. is the guy I expect to benefit most, as he has the ball in his hands every possession and thrives in the open floor. He’s been extremely productive of late, eclipsing 40 fantasy points in two of the last three games and 30 fantasy points in four of the last five. Cowan Jr. is a do-it-all hard that’s going to put up 20-25 real points a night. He averages 3.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists a game and is always a threat to go for 50+ fantasy points when he puts it all together. The versatility gives him a nice floor as well, as he won’t hurt you if one facet of his game is off that night. The Nittany Lions are also one of the toughest paint defenses, so Jalen Smith May defer to Cowan even more than he doesn’t on most night. Penn State is going to allow Maryland to play in transition and I fully expect another 40+ fantasy points out of Anthony Cowan Jr.

Myreon Jones - Penn State - FD $5,400 DK $6,000

Myreon Jones is priced down in the same game and the top scoring option on the outside for Penn State. With Jalen Smith manning the paint for Maryland, I expect more of the scoring to come from the outside. Jones averages 13 points per game with three boards and three assists. He’s been great of late, and the minutes are locked in at 28+ with a real possibility of getting to 35. With the interiors battling in this one, I’ll look to the perimeter for the fantasy goodness. Jones and Cowan are two of my favorite plays on the entire slate at their respective price tags.

TJ Haws - BYU - DK $6,200

On DraftKings, TJ Haws is an excellent value. The senior guard is the emotional leader of this BYU team and he’s going to play 30 minutes tonight in a fast-paced match-up against Nevada. Haws averages 12.5 points and 4.3 assists a night and I have a strong suspicion he’s going to exceed both of those averages tonight. Nevada is going to invite the fast style of play from BYU and Haws will be the one pushing it on most plays. Jake Toolson is another guy from BYU worth considering. He’s more of a GPP play as he can go for 12 or 50 in this match-up.

Trae Berhow - Northern Iowa - FD $4,600 DK $5,100

Berhow is a lock and load on both sites for me. He’s the best player on Northern Iowa, though a somewhat cold start to the season has kept his price down. He has shown flashes of brilliance, however, scoring 15+ points in four of the last five and getting up to 36 just a few games ago. Berhow also rebounds, so you’re not worried about a low floor on a bad shooting night. He should in the $6k’s on both sites and he would still present upside. Colorado plays at an average pace and Berhow won’t be covered by Tyler Bey. Expect 25+ fantasy points and possibly the highest-owned player on the slate.

Forwards

Jordan Nwora - Louisville  - FD $8,000 DK $8,300

Texas Tech plays at a top-100 pace and Louisville is going to get some extra possessions in turn. Jordan Nwora is the Cardinals’ best player and they run the offense through him. On most nights, his ceiling is capped as Louisville plays slow and is defensive-‘minded. Nwora is dominant enough to still put up 30+ fantasy points a night, but he has insane upside in a game that’s going to be fast-paced. Texas Tech is built on getting up and down the floor and Nwora is going to dominate that paint all game long. A faster game means more peripherals and more opportunities in the paint. Texas Tech doesn’t have much of an inside game and Nwora is going to take advantage. On FanDuel, where Yoeli Childs doesn’t exist, Jordan Nwora is the top forward. On DK, both are in play and you get a discount with Nwora.

Yoeli Childs - BYU - DK $9,000

Over on DraftKings, Yoeli Childs is $9k and the most expensive option on the board. Childs was suspended for the first nine games of the season, so he’s been a dog let off a chain in these last two (42, 39 FP) games. Childs is one of the best players in the nation and he’s not afraid to shoot the ball. BYU plays fast and Nevada is going to invite the speed, which is only going to give Childs more upside. A season ago, Childs averaged 21.2 points and 9.7 rebounds in 33 minutes. Childs has only played an average of 24 minutes in these two games so far, so who  knows what his upside is in a game he plays a full complement of minutes. On DraftKings, you can lock Childs in across the board. I’m projecting him for 45 fantasy points, but the ceiling is even higher and I’m not sure the floor is under 35. There’s enough value elsewhere to fit him with ease.

Trayce Jackson-Davis - Indiana  - FD $7,400 DK $8,100

If you’re looking for a discount at forward but still want star upside, Trayce Jackson-Davis is your man. He’s facing off with a weak UConn interior that consists of Josh Carlton and Akok Akok. Jackson-Davis is a lock for a double-double in this game and he will play 30 minutes once again after struggling against a far superior Wisconsin interior. Trayce Jackson-Davis is one of the best young big men in basketball and he’s going to have a field day against Josh Carlton. Jackson is a couple inches shorter, but a far more athletic player with natural basketball IQ. If you have a chance to watch this game, Jackson-Davis will immediately stand out as the best player on the floor. He’s been over 30 fantasy points in every similar match-up and it’s hard to believe he doesn’t get there tonight. If you don’t want to spend down in two or three spots and in turn can’t afford a Childs or Nwora, Jackson-Davis is a phenomenal pivot with a similar ceiling.

Tamenang Choh - Brown  - FD $6,600

This is a FanDuel only play. We want to play at least two or three Brown Bears on FD and Tamenang Choh is the second-fiddle to Brandon Anderson in the offense. He averages 14.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per night, and is now going to play the ninth fastest team in the country. Choh is a six-foot-five small forward that thrives in the open floor and at creating his own shot. It’s safe to say Choh is my favorite point-per-dollar forward on the slate and you won’t find a lineup of mine without him. He’s going to love the speed of this game and you can pair him and Anderson with an expectation of 65-70 combined fantasy points. Lock them in on FanDuel.

Tyler Polley - UConn - FD $4,600 DK $5,500

Polley is an excellent value play at forward on both sites. His minutes are somewhat inconsistent, but he’s been over 25 in all but one game and is typically around 28-32. Tonight, the Huskies face an athletic Hoosiers frontcourt and I expect Polley to play a huge role. The 6’9 Polley matches up best with Trayce Jackson-Davis and his minutes should be on the upper-end of his range as a result. Indiana also plays a bit faster than UConn and Polley is a forward that likes to get the ball in the open floor. He’s far less effective in a half-court set than a guy like Josh Carlton. Polley is affordable on both sites and I expect him to be 70-80% owned in the high-dollar tournaments, which is usually a good sign for a player. He makes it work on both sites and will not kill you in either format.
