Quarterback

Spencer Sanders - Oklahoma State - FD $9,100 DK $9,300

There are three high-end QB’s on this slate and all three are very much in play. Spencer Sanders, Justin Fields, and Tua Tagovailoa all have dual-threat upside and are in favorable match-ups. I’ll dive in on Sanders here, but Fields and Tua are both phenomenal plays and you won’t find me talking you off either of them. However, I love this Oklahoma State offense against Tulsa. They’re favored by 14 points in a game with a 64 projected total.

Sanders has been stellar through his first two starts, throwing for 450 yards, running for 150, and combining for six touchdowns. He played just a half last week, and still ran for over 50 yards. This Tulsa defense is beyond weak, ranking bottom 20 in the FBS against the pass last season. Vegas expects OK State to put up 39 points, and Sanders should get himself at least four touchdowns in this one. I also don’t think he’ll be as popular as Fields or Tua. On FanDuel, Sanders is far too cheap and I think you’re crazy to avoid him.

Josh Jackson - Maryland - FD $9,100 DK $6,600

This Maryland offense has been nothing short of exceptional these first two weeks. They've been dominant through the air and on the ground, and now get to face off with a Temple squad that doesn’t play much defense. Josh Jackson leads the charge for this offense, throwing for 547 yards and seven touchdowns through just two games. He also didn’t get to play full games because Maryland has demolished both Howard and 21st ranked Syracuse with a combined 142-20 score.

Jackson is still affordable, and he looks to be living up to his once upon a time expectations at Virginia Tech. He was a good QB at VT, but things didn’t work out and he was forced to transfer. He’s found a home as a Terrapin and has been looked more comfortable than ever throwing the football. It may be hard to find a weapon to pair with Jackson, but that’s not always bad. You can grab one of his cheap starters and the two will allow you to pay up elsewhere. We haven’t seen much out of this Temple defense this year, but they ranked as one of the 20 worst passing defenses in 2018. Maryland and Josh Jackson should have no issue putting up another 40+ points.

K.J. Costello - Stanford - FD $9,000 DK $7,300

Costello got injured in week one, but completed 16-of-20 passes while in there and looked like he had a firm grasp of that offense. He missed last week and Davis Mills stepped in serviceably. Costello is back healthy and supposedly 100%. This UFC defense is one that I don’t mind picking on. They have a lot of talent, but if you watched that FAU game last week, there are countless holes in that secondary. Costello is no elite thrower, but he’s a great game manager and shouldn’t have any issue moving the ball against this defense. UFC is actually favored by seven points, which I love to see for Costello. He’s at home and expected to be playing from behind. Costello is my clear third favorite, to be clear, and you’ll see a lot more Sanders and Jackson in my lineups.

Also Consider - Justin Fields (OSU), Kedon Slovis (USC), Anthony Russo (TEM)

Running Back

J.K. Dobbins - Ohio State - FD $9,600 DK $7,500

We have another set of studs at running back, and it’s a similar situation to the one at QB. We can excuse Benjamin in his tough match-up, but Hubbard, Hill, and Dobbins are all in great spots and I refuse to talk you out of any of them. I do love the price on Dobbins, however, and he would be my top guy no matter the price. This game should be a bit more competitive than Ohio State has gotten used to and I don’t think Fields will be able to do whatever he wants on the road. I expect the Buckeyes to lean on Dobbins a bit more and I wouldn’t be surprised to see 25 carries here. They’re favored by 15 points with a 60+ total on the road. There isn’t much not to love about J.K. Dobbins in this spot. His price is fair and the match-up sets up as good as it possibly can.

Vavae Malepeai - USC - FD $9,400 DK $6,000

Entering this season, it looked like Malepeai was the second fiddle to starter Stephen Carr. It’s been the exact opposite. Malepeai has carried the ball 35 times to just 12 for Carr. He’s also been involved in the passing game with a pair of catches in both games. BYU faced off with Tennessee last weekend, and Chandler/Gray combined for 231 yards on the ground.

BYU is solid against the pass, but their defensive line leaves a lot to be desired. USC is also a slight favorite, so USC should be able to run the ball early and often to hold BYU off. Malepeai should have no issue getting to 100 yards here and he’s a near lock to find the end zone. He’s a whole $1k cheaper than Carr and clearly the go-to back at this point. He’s a great play in all formats.

Anthony McFarland Jr. - Maryland - FD $10,100 DK $6,600

First things first, on FanDuel, WAY too expensive. Move on. If you’re not playing Josh Jackson at QB, McFarland is a great way to get exposure to this offense that has a projected total close to 40. It’s tough to know how involved a guy will really be when the offense has exploded in back to back weeks, but McFarland Jr. looks to be the clear top guy in the backfield. There has been a lot of production out of the backups, but it’s come in the second half of blowouts. McFarland Jr. should be out there for four quarters in this one as this game figures to be a battle. The Temple defense isn’t a good one, and while it’s better than the defenses they’ve faced so far, Maryland will still put up plenty of points. If you don’t have exposure at QB, McFarland Jr. is a great play at a fair price on DK.

Re’mahn Davis - Temple - FD $5,900 DK $3,600

Full disclosure, this is a risky play. Jager Gardner is the starter here and he’s healthy. He’s just not a very good running back and Re’mahn Davis has been extremely impressive. I don’t see a game where they don’t make sure he’s involved. Once he’s in there, I expect him to run a lot better than Gardner. He’s cheap on both sites and could make for a great value play if Temple is ever able to grab the lead. This Maryland defense hasn’t been tested yet and Temple should put up plenty of points at home in Philly. Davis will get involved in the passing game as well, so could be an option if they fall behind. It’s certainly a risk, but nobody, and I mean nobody will be on him and the upside is there.

Drake Anderson - Northwestern - DK $3,700

Isaiah Bowser practiced all week, but he’s been ruled out for this game. Drake Anderson is now the starter and while I doubt he gets a full workload, Northwestern is favored by 20 over UNLV and they should run the ball all game long. This game is only on DraftKings, so you can keep moving on FanDuel. His price is way low on DK and I think he’s a bit safer than Re’mahn Davis. This Northwestern offensive line is huge and UNLV can’t stop the run. I expect three running backs to combine for at least 200 yards. Anderson would more than pay his salary off with just 70 and a score.

Also Consider - Kylin Hill (MSST), Chubba Hubbard (OKST), Tony Jones Jr. (ND), D’andre Swift (UGA)

Wide Receiver

Tylan Wallace - Oklahoma State - FD $9,800 DK $8,600

Wide receiver is interesting on this slate. Jerry Jeudy and Tylan Wallace are the two top options and it isn’t close. I lean Wallace here, but Jeudy could easily catch 15 balls if he gets a full four quarters of run. I just love this Oklahoma State passing offense in this one and Tylan Wallace is the clear number one option for Sanders. He’s caught five touchdowns in just two games and only played two quarters last week and three in week one. That’s five touchdowns in five quarters. Wallace is easily my personal favorite college football player and I think he has a great feel for the game. I would be willing to bet he ends up being drafted way higher than he projects now. I think the argument for Jeudy over him is the volume, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wallace catch 10+ passes in a game that should be the closest they’ve played yet.

Darrell Stewart Jr - Michigan State - FD $8,800 DK $5,800

Darrell Stewart Jr. has been extremely impressive to start the season and may be a guy we see priced all the way up after this week. Last week against WMU, Stewart Jr. has eight catches for 152 yards at halftime. He didn’t play most of the second half due to a blowout, but could;ve easily had a ridiculous game. Arizona State should at least stay in the game here, and the spread suggests we’ll see four quarters of the starters. ASU has a putrid pass defense and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Stewart Jr. repeat last week’s performance.

Ihmir Smith-Marsette - Iowa - FD $8,700 DK $4,800

With Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson gone to the NFL, a ton of targets have opened up in this offense. Without an established tight end like the two of those guys, Ihmir Smith-Marsette has taken over as the clear number one option. He’s caught four balls in each game so far, combining for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Iowa now faces off with an Iowa State team that will keep it close. Both teams have solid defenses, and I expect Iowa to lean on Smith-Marsette to move the ball through the air. He’s way too cheap on DraftKings and is hard to stay away from him in tournaments.

Also Consider - Nick Westbrook (IU), Amon-ra St. Brown (USC), Maryland WR’s, Henry Ruggs III (ALA), Gabriel Davis (UCF), Connor Wedington (STAN)
