DFS MLB Hitting Coach: June 26
Steve Pimental

Trevor Plouffe has returned to the Twins lineup on Sunday.

Plouffe, who suffered a groin strain in the Twins game on Thursday, had not played in either of Minnesota's last two games. All things considered it was a pretty quick turn around when you consider that there was no real timetable given for his return. Plouffe has been bitten by the injury bug quite a bit this year, as he has only played in 52 out of the Twins 74 games in 2016. The 30-year-old corner infielder will be playing first base and hitting fifth for the Twins when they face Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi.

Asdrubal Cabrera is not in the Mets lineup on Sunday.

After going just 2-for-14 in his last three games, the 30-year-old Cabrera will get a day off on Sunday as the Mets take on Bud Norris and the Atlanta Braves. Cabrera has played in some capacity in every game so far this year for New York, so he's certainly earned himself a day off. He's hitting just .235 with four homers and six runs batted in for the month of June. Matt Reynolds will play shortstop and hit second for the Mets today.

Jeurys Familia is unavailable out the Mets bullpen on Sunday.

After picking up four saves in the last five games, Familia is going to be rested by Mets manager Terry Collins in an effort to try and keep his arm from getting fatigued. Familia is a perfect 26-for-26 in save opportunities, but will make way for either Hansel Robles or Erik Goeddel if there is a save opportunity tonight.

Rays LHP Enny Romero said left hand was still sore and may not be available on Sunday.

Romero's pitching hand was smacked from a line drive and he is still unsurprisingly feeling the pain. X-Rays came back negative so all long term concerns are put to rest. Romero has a whopping 7.56 ERA but is actually a good pitcher on the road with just a 2.08 ERA.

Marcell Ozuna (wrist) is not in the Marlins lineup on Sunday.

Ozuna is playing like a man possessed. He's hitting .320 with 16 HR's, by far his best season. The Marlins announced it is simply wrist soreness, so he should be back within the next couple of games.

Brandon Nimmo is batting seventh in his Major League debut.

With Conforto going down to Triple-A, Nimmo will make his first ever start versus Bud Norris. Norris is not a good pitcher and this is a perfect chance for Nimmo to start off his MLB career on the right foot. Nimmo was the 13th overall pick back in 2011.

Manager Joe Girardi says he probably won't use Andrew Miller for a third straight day on Sunday.

Miller has just a 1.10 ERA this season but has given up the role of closer to stud Aroldis Chapman. In the month of June, Miller has 22 SO in just 12 IP, he has been outstanding for the Yankees.

Curtis Granderson is not in the Mets lineup on Sunday.

Granderson will be sitting vs. Bud Norris. It's unclear why, considering the solid BvP. But it may because he is batting .143 over the last week. There's 162 games in the season so a few rest days are needed to stay fresh, especially for the 35 year old Granderson.
