It seems that rarely does the player that we rank as the top at his position actually come through and perform up to that ranking during the regular season. However, in 2011 I don't think there is much doubt that Aaron Rodgers owns that distinction and should continue it this week against the Raiders. He is closing in on 4,000 yards already and has 37 touchdown passes against just five picks. In a word, DAAAAAAAAMN! So, for the rest of us who didn't want to use a first round pick on the guy, who are we starting at quarterback this week? If you really take a look at who half the league is starting, you really will want to vomit. Hopefully you have one of these guys in the top dozen, because after that it gets ugly in a hurry. Can Matthew Stafford finish the season strong? How will Michael Vick perform in his first game back? Can Tim Tebow partner with Jesus again this week? It is time for the fantasy playoffs and the only way to survive and advance is check out the quarterback rankings.
As we approach week 13 of the NFL season, the fantasy football playoffs are closing in and it is vital to start all of the right players. The Houston Texans have now lost starting quarterback Matt Schaub and backup quarterback Matt Leinart. Does third string quarterback T.J. Yates have any fantasy value? With Tim Tebow mania sweeping the nation, we have to question how he ranks among fantasy quarterbacks. Matt Ryan is starting to prove himself as an elite quarterback in reality, but is he an elite fantasy option? Will Cam Newton finish the season with the most rushing touchdowns of any player in the league? Does Dan Orlovsky break the top 25 after being named the Colts starter this week? Will Brees, Brady, and Rodgers continue their dominance of NFL defenses? All your questions will be answered in this week’s quarterback ranking.
Stop! Hainie Time! The Bears had the biggest loss this past week with Jay Cutler missing most, if not all of the rest of the season after needing thumb surgery. How will the Bears' new signal caller handle his promotion? Does he have any fantasy value? By taking a look at the quarterback rankings you will see that I am expecting a wild shootout on Thanksgiving Day! Three of the six quarterbacks who will be playing are in the top four of the rankings, and only Alex Smith doesn't crack the top 17. After last week's performance, what miracles can we expect out of Tim Tebow against the Chargers? Can the guy really pull out another win? And what about his fantasy value, is he still a guy you should start? Matt Leinart returns to a starting roll this week for the first time in a long time, can he possibly turn in a good performance this go around? We are just around the corner from the fantasy playoffs, so never have your roster choices been more crucial. Good luck to everyone in their matchups!
It has been a roller coaster season for the quarterback of the Lone Star State, but let's be honest folks, whether you love him or hate him (yes, I'm talking to you Carrie Underwood!), Romo is on a serious roll and is having himself another fine fantasy season. Can it continue this week against the Redskins? How can a quarterback who only completes two passes the entire game actually score you more than 15 fantasy points? The only way this is possible is if Jesus is on your side, or the side of your fantasy quarterback, and that is why Tim Tebow is still in the top ten of fantasy quarterbacks heading into Week 11. I am concerned that this week Tebow doesn't play on the day of worship, yet plays on Thursday night, but even that can't stop him from helping your fantasy team. Now that Michael Vick isn't playing, what can we expect from Vince Young? From the rankings below, you will get my feeling on it. Will Cam Newton bounce back from a horrible week? Can Aaron Rodgers continue to torture NFL defensive coordinators? Will Ryan Fitzpatrick right the ship? What about Philip Rivers? Who the F is Tyler Palko? Is there anything creepier than Jeff Mans' chest goatee? The answer to that one is no, but the answer to all of your quarterback questions will be answered with the Week 11 rankings.
A month ago Eli Manning stirred up a storm by calling himself an elite quarterback, but he has been going out on a weekly basis and proving that he is. An amazing comeback against the Patriots last week has cemented his season and has made him a must start in fantasy football this season. Speaking of a must start, is anyone having a better season than Aaron Rodgers? He has just been amazing on a weekly basis. What do we expect from Philip Rivers last week as he finally showed some signs of being his old self again, even though he was still very careless with the ball against the Packers. Will Tom Brady have a big game? What in the world will you get from Tim Tebow this week? Has the Ryan Fitzpatrick train started to slow? How will Carson Palmer follow up the worst quarterbacking performance for a guy with three touchdown passes ever? We get a week off from bye weeks in Week 10, so if you have a decision to make, use the quarterback rankings to know who to play.
Look at that man to the left. Would you like to meet him in a dark bar bathroom? Scary! On another note, what was that thud you heard? Nope, not something scary in the night, that was Tim Tebow's fantasy value have the disastrous Week 8 game. Even though it was nothing to write home about, I urge you not to panic too much after a bad game. Eli Manning sits a top the rankings this week after another rock solid performance and a matchup against a pourous Patriots secondary in what should be a shootout. In other quarterback news, it appears the obituary on Ben Roethlisberger was written prematurely, and maybe it needs to be written on Philip Rivers. What can you expect from your QB this week? Which of the signal callers on your roster should you trust with the start? It is all very clear in the Week 9 quarterback rankings.
There are a number of new quarterback situations coming into Week 7, some because of injuries, some just because the starter absolutely sucks! What can we expect from newly starting Tim Tebow, Charlie Whitehurst, Christian Ponder, and John Beck? They have now all been officially been named the starter, and we will see how they all do under center. By looking at the top 25 below, you will immediately know that I only expect one of them to succeed. Will Josh Freeman be back on track after shocking the Saints? Is Ben Roethlisberger getting himself together? Unfortunately for many of you we also have to wait one more week for the debut of Carson Palmer, while Sam Bradford and Tarvaris Jackson are officially out! We are approaching the halfway point of the season and the quarterback rankings are looking very different from what they did on the opening week of the year.
Last week I wrote about the fact that I was still getting emails and comments about the fantasy value of Cam Newton and it was just another week and another massive performance by the number one overall pick. He has moved up to second on the list and it is just a matter of time before he is my number one fantasy quarterback. But the biggest surprise this week is which struggling quarterback that I have in the top five this week. There are also three quarterbacks in the top ten that you probably expect to be much higher. It has been a pretty healthy season for quarterbacks in the first five weeks of the season, so we haven't had too many wild changes along the way in the Fantasy Alarm Weekly Rankings.
It is Week 5 now and I still hear questions about whether or not Cam Newton is a legitimate number one fantasy quarterback. What does he have to do for you people? It doesn't matter the matchup at this point, whether it is through the air or on the ground (or both), Cam is going to put up big points for you. The biggest surprise of the season is Matt Hasselbeck and whether or not he can continue this, especially considering the loss of Kenny Britt. However, the Steelers defense hasn't been able to stop most teams so I can see him having another good week. What should you expect from Michael Vick, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Andy Dalton this week? The answers to those questions and more are right here in the Week 5 quarterback rankings.
As usual there are questions surrounding the quarterback position as we go into every single week. The biggest one this week has to revolve around the health of Eagles signal caller Michael Vick who has declared himself ready, willing, and able to play. But after being concussed the week before and now with this hand injury you have to worry about his ability to finish games at least a little. And then we have the three "overachievers" in Cam Newton, Matthew Stafford, and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Are these guys for real? I mean really real? You'll find my answers to those questions, what I think about Vick this week and how all of the other guys under center will fare in this week's quarterback rankings.
