Dion Jordan has officially been added to Miami's roster.
What's looking like one of the biggest draft day failures in NFL history, Jordan still is not in the clear yet. He must be compliant with his off-season recovery program and meet with the league before they deem him eligible to play in week one of the regular season. Jordan has the athleticism and some of the tools to be a successful player off the edge, but those alone clearly cannot carry you to success.
Brandon Brooks (hamstring) will not practice on Saturday.
Brooks recently received a five-year $40 million contract. This makes him arguably the top free agent signing for the Eagles. The injury is not concerning since he has played in 44 out of 48 possible games with his former team, the Texans. Now with the Eagles, look for him to help lead the way for Ryan Mathews and the rest of the rushing attack. The injury is not thought to be anything serious.
Vince Velasquez allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings against the Braves on Friday.
Velasquez was a tough luck loser on Friday night, as he managed to allowed just two runs through six innings but was given little to no run support from his offense in his third straight start. Despite a tough stretch for the Phillies' youngster, Velasquez has had a solid first season with the club, as he is now sitting 8-3 with a 3.32 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 108:36 K:BB rate through 97.2 innings, so if he can find a way to start limiting his walks on more of a regular basis, he will only get better from here while already being a great source of strikeouts (9.95 K/9). He will look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Giants on Thursday.
