Keenan Lewis Headshot

Keenan Lewis is not practicing on Friday and remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list despite his belief that he would practice on the first day of training camp.

On Wednesday, Head Coach Sean Payton said that Keenan Lewis was close to being fully healthy, and it seems like he'll be on the field within the next day or two. After suffering a multitude of injuries last season, the Saints would love if Lewis could stay healthy so he can pair up with Delvin Breaux to form a formidable CB combo.

Robert Griffin Headshot

Hue Jackson has said he will name the Browns starting Quarterback prior to the first preseason game.

It's widely expected that Robert Griffin III will be named the starting QB for the Browns. He was reportedly outplayed by Josh McCown during their offseason program, but RG3 is still expected to receive the bulk of the teams first-team reps. It's possible the Browns look to trade McCown, but given Griffin's extensive injury history and poor play, it may not be wise to do that. We're talking about the Browns, though. So, who knows.

Josh Naylor Headshot

Josh Naylor is among the players heading to San Diego in the Andrew Cashner/Colin Rea trade.

Naylor was the Marlins first-round pick (12th overall) in 2015. It's a really nice get for Padres as they look to continue building towards the future. In his first full-season, Naylor's shown a lot to like. He's hit to a .269/.317/.430 slash line, with 9 HR, 54 RBI, and 10 steals across 370 plate appearances for Low-A Greensboro. He's still a ways away, but at 19, the deal was worth it already.

Wade Miley Headshot

Mariners are showing interest in trading Wade Miley as the trade deadline nears.

And why not? The lefty owns a career high 5.23 ERA in 2016 but has pitched a little better in last two, notching quality starts in both outings. His ERA has gone up in each of the last five seasons, but was an All-Star in 2012. That doesn't mean that much, but hey, having an All-Star appearance on a resume never hurt. He's signed through the 2017 season with a team option for 2018.

Steve Smith Headshot

Kenneth Dixon, Steve Smith Sr., and Breshad Perriman are among the Ravens not practicing on Friday.

Nothing to be alarmed about. Dixon tweaked his knee and should be back soon, and Perriman should be expected to return at some point during camp. Smith, on the other hand, doesn't need many practice reps, and will likely miss all of the preseason too. He's coming off an Achilles' tear, and at age 37, it'll be difficult to expect much despite the fire in Smith's heart always burning. In the seven games before going down last season, Smith had 46 receptions and 670 yards with 3 touchdowns. It'll be interesting to see how much he has left in the tank.

Colin Rea Headshot

Miami is close to acquiring Colin Rea in addition to Andrew Cashner from the Padres.

Scratch that. The Marlins are getting two starters, Rea and Andrew Cashner. It's still not confirmed what will be coming back to the Padres, but it sounds like last year's first-round pick Josh Naylor will be involved in the deal. Rea isn't much, but he's another okay arm for the Marlins to add. He has a 4.98 ERA and 1.46 WHIP and a 76/44 K/BB ratio in 99.1 IP for the Padres. He'll also provide some depth help if the Marlins decide to limit Jose Fernandez's innings.

Jamie Collins Headshot

Jamie Collins was excused from training camp on Thursday according to Bill Belichick.

Although there was no reason given, Belichick said "He's here. No issues." in regard to Collins being excused from camp and it appears he should get back on the field relatively soon.

Arian Foster Headshot

Miami has placed Arian Foster, Xavier Howard, Bobby McCain, Damien Williams, and Zach Vigil on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.

This news doesn't seem to be too big as the move was kind of expected and more procedural. Foster, coming off an Achilles' tear, will look to get himself ready to practice and when he does, it is expected that he'll be running with the starters. He's worth a shot in drafts this year as he is still one of the more talented backs in the league. Health has been the major issue, not talent.

Darren Sproles Headshot

Eagles have agreed to a one-year $4.5 million contract extension with Darren Sproles.

After rumors all offseason that the Eagles were looking to part ways with Sproles, this extension says otherwise. While he may have lost a small step since his prime days in New Orleans, Sproles still has a skill set that is coveted today. Expect him to be the pass-catching back for the Eagles under new Head Coach Doug Pederson and play a solid role in their offense. He's a decent flex in PPR leagues and less desirable in standard leagues. You know the drill.
