If you are in distressed with your wide receivers or have poorly planned your bye weeks, you are in luck! We have more emerging pass catchers this week than at any other time this season. While some may be replacing former “one week wonders” on your roster, at least there are some options. We have aging vets showing they have something left in the tank and also young bucks stretching their wings. As with any passing game, quarterback play is greatly impacting the success wide outs are having converting their opportunities into receptions. As a reminder, make sure you check the bye weeks of your potential pickups as you don’t want to end up picking up a bye replacement that is on an off week.
We begin with those making a move this week:
-Miami’s Davone Bess had a breakout game, showing some chemistry with new quarterback Matt Moore and giving the Dolphins an option opposite Brandon Marshall.
-The Rams utilized their gift from Denver, receiver Brandon Lloyd. While only converting half of his dozen targets, growth potential is there, especially with the eventual return of Sam Bradford.
-Look for a real battle in leagues where Plaxico is available. Three touchdowns in what has been an anemic Jets passing game is sure to garner plenty of attention.
-If Darius Heyward-Bey is still available in your league, what are you waiting for! Heyward Bey with double digit targets and is a big time deep threat. Look out when Carson Palmer shakes the rust.
-Demaryius Thomas may be a deep threat much like he was used at Georgia Tech. With Tebow lulling the defense to sleep, boom! Thomas for the bomb!
-Dezmon Briscoe with a shocking ten targets as Tampa looks to find a partner with Mike Williams. Briscoe converted six of the attempts, including one for six.
-Steve Breaston is finally delivering numbers similar to what he posted in Arizona. Dwayne Bowe certainly needs the help.
-Who is Jeremy Kerley you ask? Well, he comes from TCU and came out of nowhere to catch four of seven passes thrown his way by Mark Sanchez.
-Baltimore was inefficient on Monday night, but Anquan Boldin was a frequent target. The bad news? He only caught four of 12 passes.
-Terrence Austin did a nice job filling in for the injured Santana Moss. Could he be the replacement?
-A Roy Williams sighting! Yes, Roy caught four of five targets, including one for a score.
-Jacksonville has been searching for a receiver since Jimmy Smith departed, is Jason Hill the answer?
-Kansas City project Jonathan Baldwin has exciting size/speed numbers and was finally utilized.
-Miles Austin has returned, but for now is playing second fiddle to Dez Bryant at Jerry World.
-Poor Sidney Rice, no quarterback, now no running game. Take the money and run, I guess.
-Reggie Wayne wanted Curtis Painter, Sunday Night Football’s result wasn’t what he had in mind.
-It’s clear that Jacoby Jones is NOT going to be getting any of Andre Johnson’s numbers.
-Since I have them both, I group Santonio Holmes and Percy Harvin together- disappointment.
-How many of you jumped on Doug Baldwin before Seattle’s bye week? The goose egg was painful.
-Robert Meachum makes the fallers list for last time, hard to fall from nothing.
-Greg Salas- see Doug Baldwin
-Lastly, yes Donald Driver is finished.
