Aledmys Diaz Headshot

Aledyms Diaz will see the doctor on Monday to reevaluate his thumb's recovery.

Diaz has been on the 15-day DL for a few weeks now and is having his surgically repaired thumb rechecked. He is still a ways away from returning to short stop and his remarkable rookie season. It is a sign of progress however which is still good.

Peter Bourjos Headshot

Peter Bourjos is leading off for the Phillies Tuesday.

Bourjos has only led off in five games this season, going 3-for-21 in those contests. The Phillies are just changing things up here and his .254/.297/.388 slash line mean he won't stick in the spot for long. It does give him a brief chance for more runs in DFS play.

Jose Bautista Headshot

Jose Bautista could return from the disabled list on Thursday.

The slugging right fielder is working his way back from a left knee sprain, that landed him on the DL for the second time this season, but is apparently pretty close to being ready. He is first eligible on Thursday and won't need any additional time after being out since August 10th. If Toronto hopes to put some space between them and the other AL East playoff chasers, they need his bat to play better than it has this season with a .222 AVG and just 15 homers and 48 RBI in 80 games. The last month of the season could be vital in his chase for a contract extension or from elsewhere after the season.

Evan Gattis Headshot

Evan Gattis is out the Astros lineup Tuesday.

Gattis is getting a breather on Tuesday after catching the past 10 games for the Astros. Jason Castro will be behind the plate for Joe Musgrave on Tuesday and without the DH in the lineup for Houston, Gattis will take a spot on the bench. He should be back in the gear on Wednesday.

Kurt Suzuki Headshot

Kurt Suzuki is out the Twins lineup Tuesday.

Suzuki appears to be getting just a day off here as Juan Centeno will be starting in his place. Suzuki has had a solid season and could be waiver-trade bait as August winds down now that he has cleared waivers. In the meantime, he should be back behind the dish on Wednesday.
