Dixon had to be carried off the field in the 2nd quarter with an "overly serious injury" according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. Prior to leaving the game, Dixon recorded 41 rushing yards on 6 carries while bringing in 1 of 2 targets for 9 receiving yards. If Dixon is forced to miss anytime, Terrance West stands to gain quite a bit in terms of picking up Dixon's workload and splitting the overall share with Justin Forsett.
Pantale was removed during Saturday's preseason game against the Colts. He was claimed off waivers from the Bears back in May and currently sits around 4th on the Eagles TE depth chart so his chances of making the 54-man roster are fairly slim. Hopefully he's healthy enough to play during the final preseason game so he can have one last shot to prove to the Eagles coaching staff he's worth being on the team.
Curry signed a 5-year worth $47.5 million with $23 million guaranteed in the offseason. So Philadelphia clearly sees him as a viable piece in their future and the good news is that Curry only thinks he'll miss a few days. The regular season doesn't start until September 11th so Curry has plenty of time before he needs to be on the field again.
Nicolino will get the start on Sunday in Cashner's place against San Diego. Nicolino hasn't pitched in the majors in over a month and carries a 5.57 ERA on the year. In his last 4 starts he gave up at least 4 earned runs in each start while failing to make it through 6 innings of work in each of those appearances.
Cashner is dealing with a blister on his finger so he will not make his scheduled start on Sunday. He struggled in his first few starts with Miami since being traded from the Padres. In his first 4 starts he gave up 12 earned runs in 16.1 innings pitched. However, in his last 2 starts he's given up 2 earned runs over 11 innings of work. Control still remains an issue as he's given up plenty of walks, but if he can come back from the blister it's possible he can get those under control.
Goff was only 3-for-8 for 38 passing yards heading in to halftime so it made sense that the Rams wanted to see more from their #1 overall pick. Goff has struggled previously during the preseason. Obviously a large spotlight is on him with the Rams back in Los Angeles, the team is under the "Hard Knocks" microscope, and he is the #1 overall pick so he's under a ton of pressure despite not being the expected starting quarterback for Los Angeles heading into the season opener.
Montero was scratched from his start earlier on Saturday in Binghamton so it logically made sense he would get a spot-start with the big league club on Monday. If you plan to stream Montero, tread carefully. He is going against a slightly banged up Marlins lineup, but he's facing Jose Fernandez so the win potential doesn't look great unless the Mets lineup can score on Fernandez and Montero makes it through at least 5 innings. Montero hasn't pitched in the big leagues in almost 4 months where he gave up 3 earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched.
Mewhort, a big piece in the Colts offensive line, is looking to 2017 after his 2016 season came to an unexpected end during Saturday's preseason game. Mewhort was an important piece in keeping quarterback Andrew Luck healthy and the Colts will certainly need to look for offensive line help following this injury.
The 2014 5th round pick injured his knee and is subsequently done for the night. He joins fellow defensive lineman Vinny Curry in the locker room as Curry suffered an unknown injury during the game. The Eagles defense is not project to be a top notch defensive unit, but both players are familiar enough with the organization that Philadelphia cannot afford to have any veterans go down in the most valuable preseason game.
It appears Anderson has a mere cut to his right ear so the injury doesn't affect his season-long status. Denver is likely taking a precautionary approach with Anderson. He signed a 4-year deal in the offseason and will play a big role in Denver's offense given the departures of Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. Anderson heads into the season as Denver's top running back with Devontae Booker looking to be his handcuff.
