It’s been awhile my friends but I’m back on the nightly fantasy beat. It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks and there is no shortage of topics to talk about and I am anxious to share my feelings on these topics and more every night once again. If there is anything that you want covered please email me at email@example.com and let me know what subjects you want addressed. Enough of the hugs and kisses, let’s get back into the swing of some hard hitting sports conversation shall we?
49ers Fire Mike Singletary
It is hard to disagree with the 49ers decision to can head coach Mike Singletary after the Niners record fell to 5-10 by losing to the Rams in week 16. This season was supposed to be a return to glory for the 49ers but it was clear early on that the team was overmatched offensively and never found a way to get enough points on the board to win the close games. That being said I do not think that Singletary should have been fired. In fact, I find it to be a travesty that coaches like Samuri Mike are a dying breed around the NFL these days. Players no longer show respect or fear the head coach anymore and that is becoming a major problem around the league. The top notch players all know they wield more power within the organization than the coach does and once the ship starts to sink these players lead the charge against the coaching staff and eventually gets them fired. There needs to be more coaches like Singletary, not less. Do you remember two seasons ago when Singletary took Vernon Davis off of the field and sent him home in the middle of the game embarrassing him on national TV? Well it is safe to say that Davis hasn’t been the same player since and has elevated his game to an All-Pro level. There are several examples of this from within the 49ers locker room but once the ship began to sink players began jumping off the sides of the boat like rats scurrying through a sewer when a light is shone. I wish that the 49ers would have given Singletary a new contract and made a commitment to him for an extended period of time. This way all players who put on the 49er uniform would know exactly who was in charge and who they would be answering to for many years to come. The Niners built their team the right way and will begin seeing the fruits of this rebuilding as soon as next season. All they need is a proper offensive system and preferable a capable QB to run such a system. The rest of the team is ready for prime time and whoever winds up coaching them in 2011 will know that by the first round of minicamps.
McNabb has been one of the most overrated QB’s, nee players in the NFL for a long time now. He has been getting by on some sort of reputation that I am not even sure why he has other than his somewhat charming Chunky Soup commercials back in the day. McNabb used to be a force with both his arm and his legs and that was when he was most dangerous but those days have long since passed. He is now a pure pocket passer with a funky throwing motion and limited accuracy. I don’t blame the Redskins or Mike Shanahan for wanting to see what else they had because everybody outside of the national media understand that Donovan McNabb is by far and away on the downside of his career.

On The Other Hand…
I totally disagree with the manner in which the Shanahan’s replace McNabb. In fact, I disagree with most of the methods of Mike Shanahan despite my feeling that he is among the best head coaches in the NFL. What he did to McNabb is insulting, demeaning and unprofessional. What the hell were they doing giving McNabb a contract extension back in November when the entire galaxy knew he wasn’t in the Shanahan’s long term plans? Any excuse given to replace Donovan McNabb with Rex Fricking Grossman is just downright silly. I mean..Rex Grossman? REALLY? Wow. John Beck maybe but Grossman has a track record in this league and that track record is one of a very inconsistent and mediocre QB.
I am going to need the help of you readers out there on this one, ok? As most of you know I am based out of Chicago, Illinois and we here in the Midwest do not really concern ourselves with the goings on of the East Coast at least not nearly as much as they may think that we do. So, I have heard rumors and innuendo about Jets head coach Rex Ryan and his wife making some sort of video about feet fetishes or something along those line. I do not know the full story nor have I seen and videos but as long as you can promise me that Rex Ryan’s cottage cheese covered ass isn’t present I sure would love to laugh at him and his hillbilly wife on whatever video is supposedly out there. Pay it forward you bastards and help me understand what this tub of goo is really up to.
