Some of the top young talent in all of major league baseball is among farm systems in the American League West. We have already seen Mike Trout take MLB by storm from the Angels system, with Texas preparing to call up phenom Jurickson Profar. Many thought Danny Hultzen would get the call in Seattle, but it appears the Mariners are going to wait until 2013. Oakland recently called up flame throwing Dan Straily and believe they have their catcher of the future in Derek Norris.

Justin Smoak 1B Seattle- The switch-hitter should be recalled shortly to take the spot of the injured Mike Carp. Smoak has struggled in Triple-A and at the Major League level this season. Smoak has 13 home runs, 38 RBI while hitting a paltry .189 in 344 at bats. Smoak needs to break out soon after struggling in '10 and '11 as well.

Andrew Romine SS Los Angeles- Romine has a solid glove and stole more than 60 bases in 2008. Romine has already been called up for two brief stints this season, but figures greatly in the Angels long term plans. A natural shortstop, Romine has been working at 3B and 2B to add value as a utility specialist.

Brad Peacock SP Oakland- Outstanding stuff with a fastball in mid to upper 90's and a plus curve. Part of the package than sent Gio Gonzalez to the Nationals.
