DFS MLB Hitting Coach: May 28
Steve Pimental

Dwane Casey and the Raptors are expected to open up contract talks soon now that the playoffs are over.

Lowry put together a phenomenal regular season but slowed a bit in the playoffs. This however will not take a big hit on his new contract as he will be a hot commodity on the market. Expect the Raptors to try and blow him away with an offer to try and hold him off from talking to other teams.

Brendan Ryan will be designated for assignment on Saturday.

Ryan played no role in the offense for the Angels as he went hitless in 11 at-bats. He is a defensive wizard so a team could take a shot on him if they need some help over at SS. Otherwise, expect him to accept his assignment down in the minors.

Franklin Gutierrez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Mariners 7-2 loss to the Twins on Friday.

Gutierrez is hitting .271 with an OPS of .868 against lefties this season which is why the Mariners put him in the lineup on Friday and it paid off immediately as he took the Twins southpaw deep in the first inning. That is all we heard from Gutierrez however as he failed to reach base in any of his other at bats. His playing time depends largely on when the Mariners will face a lefty which will next occur on Wednesday against the Padres so fantasy owners and DFS players will have to wait to use him until then.

Felix Hernandez allowed six earned runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out six over six innings in the Mariners 7-2 loss to the Twins on Friday.

Some of the Twins players entered Friday's game with a decent BVP history against King Felix and the damage was done by most of them along with Miguel Sano launching his ninth home run of the season. The loss was Felix's fourth of the season and his six earned runs was the most he has given up all year. His next matchup will come on Wednesday against the Padres who have really struggled against right-handed pitching this season and will give Hernandez a good chance to bounce back from Friday's disappointing effort.

Miguel Sano went 2-for-4 with a home run, one RBI and two runs scored in the Twins 7-2 win over the Mariners on Friday.

Sano is again mired in slump as he is hitting just .229 while striking out in nearly 46 percent of his bats over the last two weeks. The one thing saving his fantasy owners is the fact that he has hit five home runs during that same stretch. The swing and miss is something that fantasy owners will have to live with when it comes to Sano however if he hopes to fulfill his baseball potential he will really need to cut down the strikeouts by at least 15 percent.
