Jake Odorizzi took the loss Saturday after he gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over six innings against the Yankees.

Though the final score of the game was 9-0 it wasn’t Odorizzi who let things get out of hand. He threw his third-straight quality start and his ground ball rate is looking awfully tasty in comparison to where it’s been the last two seasons. Can he keep it up? Well, that’s yet to be determined as he’s changed some things up this season such as his use of a new cutter and the elimination of his slider. His swinging-strike rate is up, the contact is down and the contact to which he is pitching is pretty weak right now. He’s definitely one to monitor moving forward and you can start that watch next week when he faces the Red Sox.
