Jesse Chavez allowed just one run (unearned) on five hits an two walks while striking out four batters over eight innings against the Tigers on Tuesday.

Chavez had himself his best showing since being moved back into the starting rotation but was unable to walk away with the win after his offense failed to give him any support. He is now sitting 1-5 with a 2.44 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 45:15 K:BB rate through 51 2/3 innings and remains a solid deep league play as long as he continues to limit both home runs and walks down the road. The A's hurler will look to stay on track when he takes on the Yankees on Sunday.
