Tigers manager Brad Ausmus insists he wasn't kidding when he mentioned Alex Avila last week as a candidate to bat second.

It boils down to having that knack for getting on base. Certainly not your typical stolen base threat out of the 2-hole, Avila boasts a career .345 on-base percentage. He did however post a career high in strikeouts, getting punched out 151 times last season. If Avila can regularly get on-base in front of Miguel Cabrera, he's likely to score his fair share of runs in 2015.
