Andy Burns Headshot

Blue Jays have recalled Andy Burns from Triple-A Buffalo.

Burns hasn't played but 10 games at the MLB level this season and has yet to record a hit. He is simply an extra bat off the bench for the last week of the season.

Masahiro Tanaka Headshot

Masahiro Tanaka (forearm strain) played catch Tuesday and said he felt "nothing at all."

Tanaka is still hoping to make another start in the regular season, and this news should help that cause, though it still remains unlikely. New York is very close to being eliminated from playoff contention and if that indeed happens, there would be very little reason to have Tanaka pitch again. He has been very good in the second half for New York but the forearm strain will certainly put a damper on things and his durability heading into next season.

Joaquin Benoit Headshot

Joaquin Benoit suffered suffered a torn calf in Monday's brawl.

This is a big blow to the Blue Jays bullpen heading into the playoffs as Benoit had put up a 0.38 ERA in 23 1/3 innings for Toronto. He will assuredly miss the rest of the regular season and was spotted leaving the ballpark on Monday on crutches, however if the Jays make a deep enough run in October, he could make it back for a later series.

Dillon Gee Headshot

Dillon Gee (blood clots) has been shut down for the year.

Gee was hospitalized in Detroit for blood clots in his lungs and shoulder and stayed behind when the team left Detroit for their next series. Blood clots are a scary thing to deal with, just ask Chris Bosh, and can linger for quite some time. Reports are that he is okay but will obviously not pitch again this season after working his way back into the backend of the rotation for Kansas City in the second half. The Royals are out of the playoff chase at this point so he will only miss the last week of the season, but his overall health is more important. He will try and be healthy for spring training next March.

Wilmer Flores Headshot

Wilmer Flores (wrist) has been shut down for the next couple of days.

Flores hasn't played in a game since September 10th and was still dealing with lingering pain in the bone on Monday while trying to take swings. At this point, being shut down for a few days pretty well means the rest of the season as there are only five or six games left in the regular season. New York is sitting in the Wild Card at the moment so he does still have a reason to get healthy, as he could play in the playoffs.

Francisco Lindor Headshot

The Indians are resting the majority of their starters on Tuesday.

As is customary to do in baseball, the day after a division is clinched, the clinching team rests a bulk of their starters. Chicago, Washington, Texas and now the Indians have all done it this past week. it makes it challenging for DFS players, expect to play the opposing pitcher who now gets to face an easier lineup. Justin Verlander should be in lineups across DFS Tuesday night.

Andrew Luck Headshot

Andrew Luck (shoulder) is practicing on Tuesday.

Luck's shoulder "injury" is pretty minor, on par with Tom Brady's sore shoulder that had him listed on the injury report for three straight seasons. The Colts threw the ball 37 times in Week 3 against San Diego and should be gearing up to do that once more against an up and down Jags offense in Week 4 when they play in London. Luck is a top-five fantasy QB option this week and should be played as such on Sunday.
