Wednesday’s start marked the first time Lester wasn’t able to give the Cubs at least six innings but he still effective nevertheless. The Pirates fought off tough pitches all afternoon and drove Lester’s pitch count up fast. Lester has been excellent this year, as he hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his starts. Lester’s next start will come against the Padres who struggle offensively. With the way Lester’s thrown the ball this year, he’s almost a shoe in for a quality start next Monday.
