If you are like me, you have already participated in drafts or auctions, and also waiting for those that have yet to take place. Three important thresholds determine how fantasy basketball leagues are won and lost. First and foremost is the draft/auction where the baseline of your team is created. Early on in the season, free agency moves are nearly as important as you weed out those underachieving and claim those that are ahead of projected pace. Lastly, trades at any point during the season, but most importantly at the deadline. If you have yet to field your team, we present shooting guards that may be available yet, or for those with existing teams, a potential free agent list.
The NBA tipped off the 2011/12 season with a tremendous slate of Christmas Day games. Although the season has been shortened from 82 to 66 games, there will never be a shortage of action. For the first time, we are seeing teams playing back, to back, to back games. The schedule is so compact that some teams are expecting less than a dozen practices during the entire season! Given the pace of the schedule, the older teams may be at a disadvantage and bench play is more important than ever. Fantasy leagues are taking note and many are holding their auctions/drafts after the opener to get a better feel for rotations and flow.
