Were you looking for fireworks at the NBA trade deadline? As things turned out, the pre-season James Harden deal and the trade that sent Rudy Gay north of the border, turned out to be the biggest deals across the Association. New, more stringent rules involving the luxury tax are trying to keep the NBA elite (Lakers, Knicks, Bulls, etc.) from dominating the transaction market and clubs are certainly more luxury tax sensitive. The biggest move ending up actually came on deadline eve, making for a very un-eventful Februuary 21st.
All-Star weekend in Houston has wrapped up and was generally panned by observers. What did you think? Did you watch? I found it entertaining for the most part, but found the musical entertainment leaving much to be desired. I would like to see the slam dunk and three point contest get more high profile entrants, perhaps using charity donations as the draw. Lebron in the slam dunk? JJ Reddick in the three point? Just food for thought. We wrap up our mid-season reviews with the Southwest Division of the Western Conference.
It's not exactly the midway point in the season, but the All-Star break is as good time at time as any for teams across the country... and us to evaulate. We continue our swing through the Association, checking in on each Division. Who is having a break out season? What rookies are fantasy worthy? Who may be on the block and possibly moved by the trade deadline? We continue with the Southeast Division.
As we roll into the 2012-'13 NBA season, we're going to take you through an overview of each of the six divisions. Who are key newcomers? Who are notable for your fantasy team? Last season was brutal with a late and sudden December start to an abbreviated season. We tip off with the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference, home of the NBA defending champion Miami Heat.
As we play out the final weeks of the 2011-'12 NBA season, we take a look at each franchise. Who emerged, what went wrong, what lies ahead. A look at post season chances, long term potential and upgrades possible in this summer's NBA draft. We continue in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference with the Atlanta Hawks.
Are you getting distracted by Spring training? If you are like me, you are balancing your time (or trying to) between prepping for MLB auction/drafts and keeping a keen eye on your NBA fantasy team. Continuing with our NBA mid-season reviews, we wrap up the Eastern Conference with a look at the Southeast Division.
And a Happy Ash Wednesday on the eve of the final games before the NBA All-Star break. We have some replacement news, involving those opting out of this weekend's festivities due to injury and more. Impact fantasy players are using the break to get a few extra days to heal heading into the weekend and news of some potential "hazing" of a rookie in the slam dunk competition.
