Mark Streit Headshot

The Flyers dealt Streit to the Lightning in exchange for Valtteri Filppula, a 2017 fourth round draft pick, and a 2017 conditional seventh round draft pick.

Streit has been on something of a cold streak lately, recording just two assists in the month of February, but he is an offensive-minded blueliner who shoots the puck a lot (88 times through 49 games, to be exact) and can log time on the power play if needed. He'll provide a much needed boost to Tampa Bay's defensive corps, but it's unclear at this point if the change in scenery will help his fantasy stats.

Greg Holland Headshot

Holland won't appear in his first spring game until next week at the earliest, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

As he has done in the past, the former closer is taking his time prior to entering into any game situations, especially given his absence from last season's campaign due to Tommy John surgery. Holland seems to be 100 percent as of now, and he should give incumbent Adam Ottavino a run for his money for the title of closer.

Valtteri Filppula Headshot

Filppula was traded to the Flyers by the Lightning along with a fourth-rounder and a conditional seventh-rounder for Mark Streit on Wednesday.

With seven goals and 34 total points in 59 games, Filppula has improved his production from last season's 31 in 76, but it's dried up recently, as he heads to Philly with just two points in his last 12 contests. We can't yet say for certain where Filppula will line up with his new squad, but word on that should come out once he's able to get his first Flyers practice in.

William Carrier Headshot

Carrier (knee) is still unable to put any weight on his injured knee, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Carrier has been out of the lineup since Feb. 2, missing a total of 13 games thus far. Given he hasn't resumed skating, the winger is no closer to returning to game action. The 22-year-old is already on injured reserve and should probably be considered out indefinitely until he can at least get back on the ice.

Hyun-Jin Ryu Headshot

Contrary to prior reports, Ryu will pitch a bullpen session Wednesday and is not scheduled to pitch in the Dodgers' spring game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

There were reports stating that the southpaw could make his spring debut, but it seems that the Dodgers brass decided to take their foot off the gas a bit and hold him out of game action a bit longer. No timetable for Ryu's first spring game exists as of now, but things should become clearer as he continues to throw side sessions.

Nerlens Noel Headshot

Coach Rick Carisle initially planned to start Noel at center Wednesday against the Hawks, but the newly-acquired big man will continue to come off the bench instead, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

The Mavericks have a vacancy in their starting lineup Wednesday with Wesley Matthews (hip) out, but Carlisle bypassed Noel for the appointment to the top unit after the 22-year-old was 10 minutes late for the team flight to Atlanta on Tuesday. Noel apologized to the team for his tardiness and won't be subjected to any further punishment, but he'll stick in a bench role Wednesday as Dorian Finney-Smith receives the promotion to the starting five.
2:42 pm (EST)
Markus Hannikainen Headshot

Hannikainen was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Wednesday.

As it tends to happen on deadline day, it's entirely possible that this is just a "paper" move and Hannikainen will be recalled shortly. However, the Finnish winger hasn't provided a ton of upside for the Blue Jackets, posting just a goal and an assist in 10 games this season, so it's also possible that he'll remain in Cleveland to get ice time. Either way, he's not a usable fantasy asset at the moment.
2:40 pm (EST)
Jordan McRae Headshot

McRae was waived by the Cavaliers on Wednesday.

McRae saw just seven minutes total in the Cavaliers last six games, and with the signing of Deron Williams he wasn't likely to see more action anytime soon. McRae will be on waivers for the next two days and can sign with any team if he goes unclaimed.
2:37 pm (EST)
Zack Greinke Headshot

Manager Torey Lovullo named Greinke the Opening Day starter Friday, Nick Piecoro of AZ Central reports

The news comes as no surprise; Greinke is still considered the ace of the staff even after his disappointing 2016 campaign. The right-hander has been taking it easy this spring as he recovers from a season-ending shoulder injury, but is expected to make his first Cactus League start Friday against the Dodgers. After posting a career-best 1.66 ERA in 2015, Greinke slumped to a dismal 4.37 last year, a stat he'll aim to improve upon in his 14th major league season. Expect the three-time All-Star to be back in form and ready for action within the coming weeks.
2:36 pm (EST)
Sven Andrighetto Headshot

Andrighetto was traded to Colorado from Montreal in an exchange for Andreas Martinsen on Wednesday.

Andrighetto just went from serious playoff contender to the bottom of the league standings, but had played in just two of the Canadiens last seven outings. The winger could see a significant uptick in ice time with the Avs considering they will want to see whether the 23-year-old is worth resigning next season.
