As the season rolls though August, it's time to prepare for the stretch run if you are in contention for your league title. Pick up as many fantasy points as you can now, and position your team for the final showdown. With that in mind, let's take a look at those two start pitching options that can help you out this week.
Mid way through August now, or at least we will be by the end on the current scoring period. Time to work the wire to pick up as many pitching stats, like Ks and Ws, as humanly possible, or as your league rules allow. Prolly no chance to get any of the top tier guys at this point, but if you have them, start them. As the title to the tier says.
I am certainly not overwhelmed by the two start pitching options this week. As I was telling Jeff Mans, the choices are crappily mediocre for the most part, at least one you get past the first tier and a handful in the middle tier. Still, you have to field a team, so here's what I see for the scoring period ahead.
Not a great week for me, nor for streaming options, either. My car was broken into (at noon on a public street) a couple of days ago, and the smash&grab felon grabbed not only my briefcase with my files from court that day, but also the netbook I use to prepare these articles. Thus, no Thursday SP options this week and that's too bad because those had the most potential of the 4 days I usually cover here. Ah, well, as Nick Lowe said, "...and so it goes."
Coming to you from the lovely Keweenaw Peninsula area of northern Michigan (aka the UP), here is this Saturday's installment of Two Start Pitchers for Week 18. Since I am on something of a deadline, having to wrap this up before brunch and then an afternoon wedding, let's just get to it.
Sorry to say, there are not exactly a wealth of streaming options for the very end of the week. Still, the options are decent, as you shall see below.
It worked well for me last week, so we will continue the two part Pitch & Ditch articles during mid-week. It helps to break up the information into easier digestible chunks, and keeps the information more timely. Win-Win, right?
As you can see, in Part 2 of this week's Pitch & Ditch we have 11 more SPs to recommend over the final two days at the end of the period. Now that's a lot of options this week, and while I cannot promise all will be gems, at least you have more of an opportunity to get some pitching goodness at the end of the week.
I am going to break this week's Pitch & Ditch into two articles, partially due to the large number of Starting Pitchers owned in less than 50% of leagues that I feel are worth a shot, and partially due to my having tickets for 3 Tigers games this week. Now if only this heat wave would break, especially with a Thursday afternoon game coming up...not that I am complaining about getting to see the Tigers take on the Angels with Trout, Trumbo and Pujols all smacking the ball around.
