Mike Hoffman Headshot

Hoffman (lower body) joined the team for the beginning of its four-game road trip that begins Tuesday against the Devils, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

Garrioch notes that it doesn't guarantee he or either of the other two injured players from Sunday's contest will play, but it's certainly a good sign for the Senators that he's doing well enough to travel. Another update on his status is expected to surface on gameday, officially providing an outlook for the evening's contest.

Fredrik Claesson Headshot

Claesson signed a one-year, one-way deal that will net him $650,000 for 2017-18, Brent Wallace of TSN Ottawa reports.

The 24-year-old defenseman doesn't provide much value in terms of fantasy , but has drawn into five of the team's last six contests and owns five assists in 19 games this season. The deal keeps him in town for at least one more year, but it doesn't change his fantasy outlook much heading into 2017-18.

Jacob Trouba Headshot

Trouba was handed a two-game suspension for his hit on the Senators' Michael Stone on Sunday.

Trouba's check to the head of Stone caused him to leave the game, leaving the forward's status in question moving forward. The defenseman will sit out the team's last game before its bye week Tuesday and the first game out of the break, dating his return March 3 against the Blues. Julian Melchiori seems the likely candidate to take his place in the defensive pairings, His absence will also force the team to shuffle its man advantage again for a couple games.

Daniel Fields Headshot

Fields signed a minor league contract with Arizona, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

The 26-year-old was released by the Dodgers last August after he slashed .250/.324/.375 in 32 at-bats with their Triple-A affiliate during part of last season. Across three levels in the minors during 2016, Fields struggled to a slash line of just .215/.307/.288 in 177 at-bats. He will serve as organizational depth for the Diamondbacks in 2017.

Michael Stone Headshot

Stone was dealt from the Coyotes to the Flames on Monday for a third-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2018, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Stone was expected to serve as a healthy scratch for the Coyotes on Monday to avoid injury, but will instead pack his things and head out of town. After a breakout season of sorts in 2015-16 (36 points in 75 games), the 26-year-old defenseman's offensive production has scaled back just a year later. Thorugh 45 games this season, Stone has notched just nine points, including just five on the power play. He'll look to revitalize his campaign following a change of scenery and joins a team that receives decent production along the blue line.

Paul Clemens Headshot

Clemens will take the hill in the Padres' first Cactus League game on Saturday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

With San Diego's pitching staff shaping up to be near the bottom of the league in terms of talent, Clemens will have a great opportunity Saturday to boost his candidacy for a back-end rotation spot. The 29-year-old journeyman made 12 starts for the Padres in 2016, posting a 3.67 ERA in 61.1 innings of work. His effectiveness will likely come down to whether he can demonstrate improved command of his curveball, which has given him issues at times in the past.

Alex Dickerson Headshot

Dickerson was held out of workouts on Monday due to back stiffness, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Manager Andy Green added that he didn't expect it to be a long term thing, but only time will tell at this point. The 26-year-old is looking to build on a strong rookie campaign where he slashed .257/.333/.455 while knocking 10 home runs.

Danny Santana Headshot

Santana (shoulder) has been participating in drills early in spring training, MLB.com reports.

Santana suffered a season-ending Grade 2 shoulder strain in September, but should be fine as spring training begins. He'll try to win a utility role this spring, but the signing of Ehire Adrianza likely means he's not currently a favorite to win a roster spot.

Enrique Hernandez Headshot

Hernandez is slated for a bench role after the acquisition of Logan Forsythe from Tampa Bay.

He seemingly had a chance to to start at second base prior to the move, but it was widely anticipated that the Dodgers would upgrade that position, and that indeed happened. Hernandez should get occasional starts in the outfield and the infield against left-handed pitching.
