Galette's bad luck has continued as he tore his Achilles tendon today during a workout and will miss the entire 2016 season. Galette tore the Achilles tendon in his other leg last year and ended up missing all of the 2015 season as well. It's unfortunate for Galette who claimed he was in the best shape of his life and at one point looked to be one of the better pass rushers in the league. He will be a free agent after this season and it will be interesting to see if another team takes a gamble on him given his extensive injury history.
Chapman was traded from the Yankees to the Cubs today as part of a five-player deal which saw Gleyber Torres and Adam Warren going to the Yankees. It appears as though Chapman will join up with the Cubs in Chicago on Tuesday in the midst of their series against the White Sox. The 28-year-old flamethrower will surely make a huge impact in the Cubs bullpen down the stretch this season.
Maybin will sit out his second straight game when the Tigers face off against Drew Pomeranz and the Red Sox tonight at Fenway Park. Maybin getting the day off is a little puzzling as he's raked against left-handed pitchers this season, hitting .379 in 66 at-bats. The 29-year-old is having a solid season for the Tigers in 2016, hitting .325 with two home runs, 26 runs batted in, 12 steals, and a .784 OPS. Andrew Romine will be playing center field and hitting ninth for Detroit today.
Williams, who last pitched in the big leagues for the Phillies back in 2015, was called up by the Cardinals despite having a 4.89 ERA in Triple-A this year. The 34-year-old is 52-66 lifetime with a 4.57 ERA in the Major Leagues, so he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar. The most logical reason for his call-up is for him to be an innings eater over the next few days due to the Cardinals bullpen being depleted.
Walker will get his second straight day off in a row for the Mets, who are facing off against Carlos Martinez and the St. Louis Cardinals. Walker has played just twice now for the Mets in their last five games and went 0-for-9 at the plate in that timespan. Kelly Johnson will get the start at second base again tonight and will hit fifth against Martinez.
