Melky Cabrera Headshot

Cabrera started in left field Saturday and went 0-for-3 against the Indians. He's hitting just .220 (11-for-50) with a .544 OPS this spring.

Despite the low average, Cabrera will be the White Sox's starting left fielder to the open the season. The question remains for how long. As a veteran on a rebuilding team, Cabrera joins Jose Quintana, David Robertson and Todd Frazier has players the White Sox can flip for desperately needed young position prospects.

Ross Detwiler Headshot

Detwiler is expected to opt out of his contract Sunday since he won't make Oakland's final 25-man roster, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Detwiler has struggled this spring with a 11.88 ERA. He'll likely sign with another club and begin the season in Triple-A.

Reilly Smith Headshot

Smith scored a goal Saturday in a 7-0 win over Chicago.

Smith has started to pick up the pace a bit lately and has five points in his last 10 games. It's his 13th goal of the season.

Braden Holtby Headshot

Holtby allowed just one goal on 29 shots in Saturday's 4-1 victory against the Coyotes.

These are the type of games you save big dollars for Holtby in DFS, as he rarely disappoints against the dregs of the league. In fact, he hasn't disappointed against many lately, giving up three or fewer goals in 13 of his past 15 outings.

Mike Smith Headshot

Smith allowed three goals on 32 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss against the Capitals.

Smith has allowed three or fewer goals in seven of his past nine appearances. Unfortunately, Arizona's offense has provided him with a grand total of three goals over the past four appearances. He is playing well and deserves a much better fate.

Raul Alcantara Headshot

Alcantara appears set to begin the season as Oakland's fifth starter based on how the starting pitcher's schedules line up this week and with Jesse Hahn struggling Saturday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Alcantara hasn't been impressive this spring with a 4.50 ER with a 9:7 K:BB ratio in 20 innings. However, Alcantara is out of minor league options. His tenure as the fifth starter may not last long if Sonny Gray is able to return from a back injury in April.
1:01 am (EST)
Thomas Greiss Headshot

Greiss allowed just two goals on 18 shots in Saturday's 2-1 loss against the Bruins.

Neither goaltender faced much rubber in a game resembling a playoff atmosphere. It was one of his best outings in March, as Greiss has yielded four or more goals in five of his 12 appearances in the month.
12:59 am (EST)
Andrew Triggs Headshot

Triggs appears set to begin the season as Oakland's No. 4 starter after Jesse Hahn struggled again Saturday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Triggs has a 5.06 ERA this spring but an solid 12:2 K:BB in 16 innings. Triggs will try to carry over momentum from the 2.78 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 21:1 K:BB he showed in his last five starts last year.
12:53 am (EST)
Jonathan Toews Headshot

Toews' point streak ended at six games Saturday when he was held off the board in a 7-0 loss to Florida.

He had seven points (three goals, four assists) on a six-game streak. Toews finished the game minus-4.
12:53 am (EST)
Anton Khudobin Headshot

Khudobin allowed just one goal on 19 shots in Saturday's 2-1 win against the Islanders.

Khudobin filled in admirably with Tuukka Rask (lower body) nursing an injury. The Bruins face the equally hot Predators on Tuesday night in Beantown. Whether it is Rask or Khudobin in between the pipes, neither is a particularly attractive fantasy option.
