This is a corresponding move to Karns moving to the DL with a back strain. This is a solid opportunity for Martin since Karns has proven he has been untrustworthy this season. If Martin performs well, it's very likely he earns the relief role over Karns while he's on the DL.
Karns has a 5.15 ERA but still managed a 6-2 record. He's been awful over his last few appearances and has a 10.32 ERA in the month of July. After a somewhat promising start to the year, Karns has almost no fantasy value in the relief role.
Travis is oddly batting ninth today so it's not an ideal position for DFS players. He's facing off against Yovani Gallardo who is by no means a stud, but the ninth spot is a fantasy value killer in most cases. Travis is batting .286 this year and he is a reverse splits guy, he is hitting .320 against other righties.
This is potentially terrible news for the Patriots and Cooper. The Pats have a very weak line and struggled mightily last season because of their O-line issues. Cooper was hoping the Pats would revitalize his career, but if this turns out to be a serious injury, both parties are in trouble. Yesterday, a player was carted off due to a sickness so there's no need to assume the worst. But in this case, we know it's injury related.
The 11-year vet has had a mediocre season but has shown decent power over the course of the year. An earlier report stated that Upton Jr. won't be hitting much against righties while on the Blue Jays despite mainly facing them while with the Padres. Upton Jr. loses some value as a fantasy option now that he's with Toronto.
This clearly would have been a blockbuster trade if it came to fruition but sadly the talks ended, at least temporarily. It's unclear what the other pieces were, but a trade is no longer likely. Bruce has a whopping 25 HR's this year and would be a massive add for the Dodgers. Puig has been relatively disappointing lately as he's battled nagging injuries and has yet to make a major impact for the offense.
Floyd has a very high ceiling as a prospect but he wasn't the safest pick. Floyd has some bust potential but also can be an elite pass rusher if he bulks up. The Bears drafted Floyd for his potential not his safety, and he can make an immediate impact for the Bears defense, but it's likely that it will take him a couple years to be a complete and effective player.
Williams is recovering from knee surgery so this is good news for Williams and the Bills. The four-time Pro Bowler is a staple of the Bills defense and will look to continue his reign as long as he is fully healthy. For what it's worth, Pro Football Focus ranked Williams the 75th best overall player in the NFL in 2014.
This is sad news for NFL fans everywhere. Sproles is just 5'6 and still managed to be a very good football player. He is 33 years old and he will look to give it his all before the 2017 season comes to an end. Last season, Sproles led the league in punt return yards, TD's and return average.
Wade left Miami mainly due to contract disputes did not receive much criticism because of the offer he reportedly turned down. Wade believed he was wroth more and many others agree as well. He will always be a legend in Miami and now he will look to try and make the playoffs with the Bulls. Rondo, Butler and Wade will look to carry most of the load. Perimeter shooting will be a massive issue this season.
