Brandon Phillips went 2-for-3 with a walk and one run scored against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Phillips is one of just a few Reds players who have been fairly consistent this season. He’s only hitting .248 for the season, but with six home runs and three stolen bases, he’s showcasing that he can still reach double digits in both category. He and the rest of the Reds will get the day off tomorrow to clear the air.

Dan Straily allowed three earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out 11 in seven innings on Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Since the Reds moved him into the starting rotation, he’s done extremely well. He has a 2.98 ERA on the season and he struck out a season-high 11 batters in this one. Straily now has 22 strikeouts in his last 18 innings, but he has walked seven batters during that same span. The Reds offense isn’t exactly consistent, but another huge factor that takes wins away from Straily is the Reds’ horrendous bullpen. If Straily continues to pitch like this, however, he is worthy of a roster spot. His next start will come on Tuesday against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Kenley Jansen pitched a clean ninth inning to earn his 14th save of the season against the Reds on Wednesday.

After blowing back-to-back save opportunities, Jansen was back at it tonight. He may not have punched out a batter, but given his recent struggles, getting back on track was all he needed. The Dodgers should give Jansen plenty of chances to maintain his status as a top-five closer.

Logan Morrison went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI on Wednesday night against the Marlins.

It was a great night at the dish for Morrison, and it came just when he needed it most, as his sub .200 average was beginning to wear on him as of Monday afternoon. And just in the blink of an eye, Morrison raised his average 42 points with a two-day stretch of 6-for-7 at the plate. He obviously wont maintain this unrealistic pace, however hopefully this is a sign that his bat has turned around. Give him a few more games before making a judgement.
