Usually this section is reserved for one item in particular that either grabs my attention or something specific that really sticks in my craw – wow, do I sound like an 82 year old man yelling at kids to stay off of my lawn when I use that expression? – and commands my undivided attention. But with so much happening in the baseball world right now, I can’t even bring myself to focus on just one topic. Blame baseball for being so damn exciting or blame my scattered thought on sleep deprivation. Whatever the case may be, I’m going to break from our usual format and just hit you with some rapid fire baseball thoughts that are wrap up the events of yesterday and impact the fantasy baseball community at the same time.
I've been saying it for years - get rid of the macho attitude and just get on base. Turns out that my message may have finally reached Mark Teixeira. What will the Nationals do with Bryce Harper to start the 2012 season. Could he actually break camp as a member of the starting lineup? The Astros signed Livan Hernandez. How does that move impact the rest of the Astros' rotation? And finally, I know he's coming off a terrific season, but just how good is this Adrian Beltre fella?
Welcome back to another edition of the Tuesday Top Ten list of relevant and newsworthy fantasy baseball stories. This week presented a whole new batch of insignificant happenings that of course caught my eye and must be posted immediately. Now, without further adieu, here is the Tuesday Top Ten fantasy baseball headlines for August 16, 2011.
It is the Fourth of July and I hope that all of you have enjoyed the celebrations of the day with many drinks, lots of meats on the grill, and if the weather was nice where you are, some basking in the sunshine. Fantasy baseball was still in full swing today though and there is plenty ot cover. A lot of the news has to do with starting pitching, where there are some I trust, some I don't, and some I am unsure of yet. We have a minor league prospect who is back in the majors, a zoo animal who seems to be on the road to a big second half, and a recently called up prospect who is tearing things up. If you haven't had too many drinks today, enjoy Rounding The Bases.
It is the end of another week in fantasy baseball and as usual there is a ton of news. As always there is injury news with a Panda and a Tabata and one doesn't seem too bad while the other is crushing. I give you a guy I think should be in the All-Star game that isn't getting any attention and a National League pitcher that got off to a great start that is starting to collapse. It was a day of unprobably stolen bases as some of the fattest asses in the majors got in the SB column, and a former first round pick is starting to finally make a bit of noise in fantasy. If you can't wait to find out what the hell I am talking about, wait no more and enjoy Rounding The Bases.
It was a very abbreviated schedule in fantasy baseball on Thursday which means a very short version of Rounding The Bases. There is still plenty of fantasy news though that you need to know as a former fantasy star in the outfield continues to shine, while a starting pitcher who looked to be elite took one on the chin. A borderline outfielder looked good again, while a second year first baseman looks like he is figuring it out. We have one of the best third sacker moves closer to returning, while an elder statesman certainly responded to a manager's challenge. Even when there are only a handful of games there is still plenty to read in Rounding The Bases.
It was a huge schedule on Wednesday as there were 17 games in total with doubleheaders included, and there is a ton to talk about. We have a elite player who takes a leave, one of the best back on the field, and a couple of younger hitters who won't be on it for a little while. We have one of the hotter prospects in baseball headed back to the farm, and a disappointing closer who seems to have found his groove. There is all of that news and so much more as we take you around the box scores and give you every piece of fantasy relevant happenings and how it should affect your team.
