Welcome to the third installment of the Tuesday Top Ten where I will be presenting you with ten of the most newsworthy events in all of baseball, both real and fantasy. Each item will have some general information and then a short analysis of the potential fantasy impact. As you already know, the ranking of the list is completely subjective based on my own arbitrary criteria. So without further adieu, let's get a drumroll from Paul Shaffer and roll out the Tuesday Top Ten list for May 17, 2011.
Another week of the fantasy baseball season is behind us, and it is hard to believe it is the middle of May already. The biggest power hitter of 2010 is showing that it was no fluke, while one of the elite pitchers from last season finally gets in the win column. One of the elite power hitters in the middle infield is trying to get on track, while a young pitcher in Arizona is showing signs of breaking out. An aging catcher is on a hot streak, while an injury prone shortstop is doing well since coming back from injury. The season is definitely in full swing so be sure to check out all of the content on Fantasy Alarm to help you earn a fantasy championship.
According to reliable sources such as the internet and high school students, Tuesday is the least popular day of the week. In an effort to bring some respect, credibility and entertainment back to Tuesdays, I will be paying homage to David Letterman and provide a weekly Top 10 list for newsworthy fantasy baseball events that take place. Each event will have a brief description including what, if any, impact it has on fantasy baseball. The ranking is completely subjective so do not even think of challenging my authority. In fact, in the words of Eric Cartman, you will respect my authority! Without further adieu, here is the debut of the new Tuesday Top Ten List (as of 10:15 PM EST):
It is another exciting night in fantasy baseball as we wish you a happy weekend. The weather has finally started to improve up here in the Northeast and some players are starting to see things in a sunny way. A power hitter who we all questioned is answering us in emphatic fashion, and an also ran pitcher is looking like a Cy Young Award winner. A young pitcher looks impressive this night, while an Asian important disappoints again. One outfielder hits his first home run of the season, while another one just keeps piling up the hits. There is that news and a little bit more on the weekend edition of Rounding The Bases.
We have our first change in closers of the 2011 season as well as some injuries that continue to pile up and some good news on that front. We have a young player being moved to the leadoff role for his team, as we also have a slugger that will miss this week's games. There is a young catcher who gets some time, as well as some young pitchers who are already making an impact, as well as a veteran who came out of the gate slowly. Check out Fantasy Alarm to see how you can get text messages or emails to your inbox whenever a player is out of your lineup. It is the second day of the season and many teams first game. There was a ton of offense today and some of the top pitchers in the league got off to a very rocky start and we tell you what to do with them. We have some exciting news when it comes to catchers and some more about middle infielders. Everyone in fantasy is always trying to fill those difficult areas, so be sure to check that out too. There is also another injury coming out of St. Louis, and it is going to have a big effect on fantasy teams.I wish that some stories in these articles were indeed jokes based on the "holiday" today.
