Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitching: Week 9

Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said he will continue to trim Ryan Howard playing time.

The Phillies will look to deal Howard, but will have to eat most of his $25 million dollar salary, which could be an issue. Howard still has the ability to hit a home run everytime he comes to the plate, but is only hitting .154/.219/.346 on the season. He figures to be on the wire in most leagues, but if he does begin to see a significant dip in playing time, Tommy Joseph becomes a nice addition in deeper leagues.

Michael Conforto is not in the starting lineup against the Dodgers on Monday.

Conforto is enjoying a nice season, but has cooled off in the last week hitting only .143. On the season he is slashing .270/.345/.520 with eight homeruns and 24 RBI. He still remains a must start, but he appears to be coming back down to Earth.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he'll give Adrian Gonzalez a day off on Wednesday with Jon Lester pitching for Cubs.

With it being a lefty on lefty, it makes sense for Gonzalez to sit against Jon Lester who is enjoying an excellent season. In a small sample size, Gonzo is hitless in six plate appearances against Lester. Howie Kendrick figures to start in his place, and does not offer much to fantasy owners.

Brandon McCarthy will throw to live hitters on Monday.

The veteran was shut down last week, with what the Dodgers refuse to call a setback. He will need to rehab before he is back with the big club, and the Dodgers still believe he will be back in July. He will need to prove he is all the way back before he should be on anything outside of NL only rosters.

Mets have optioned Matt Reynolds to Triple-A Las Vegas.

In ten at bats, Reynolds only had one hit. This move figures to correspond with the newly acquired James Loney being activated as soon as Tuesday. Reynolds should not be on your radar in any format.

Update: Dustin Ackley suffered a shoulder injury against the Rays on Sunday.

The long underachieving Ackley hurt the shoulder sliding on Sunday. A trip to the DL seems all but certain at this point. He offers nothing in fantasy, and since he is low on the Yankees depth chart, the only player to benefit could be Aaron Hicks, who is a solid DFS option in the right situations.

Rich Hill left Sunday's game in the seventh inning with an undisclosed injury.

The veteran has enjoyed immense success this season, with a 2.18 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. He left Sunday's start after the trainer came to visit him on the mound. Owners have waited for a drop in his production, but it has not come yet. Start him in all formats.

Mets manager Terry Collins told reporters that he expects James Loney to be activated on Tuesday.

The veteran has posted a solid .285 average over his career, paired with his defensive prowess at first, he makes for an excellent fill in for the Mets. With David Wright possibly facing a DL stint, this move allows Eric Campbell to fill in at the hot corner, and Loney will serve as the first baseman most days, and could make for a solid add in deeper and NL only leagues. In daily, his lack of power hurts, but he will be a cheap option.

X-rays taken on David Ortiz (foot) came back negative and he could return to the Red Sox' lineup on Monday.

A huge sigh of relief for owners of the ageless Big Papi, who is going out with a bang in his final season. Ortiz is posting a video game like .339/.420/.720 on the season. He is a must start in all formats, and does not look to miss any time.

Austin Jackson left Sunday's game due to turf toe on his left foot.

Jackson has overcome a sluggish start to get to a line of .259/.316/.353 and 18 RBI, but only has posted two steals for owners. If he does miss time, Jerry Sands figures to start in center field. He does not offer much other than a cheap punt play in DFS.
