Happy Memorial Day! Today we pay tribute to the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces, and take the time to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives in defense of this country. We at Fantasy Alarm have nothing but the utmost respect for those who serve and have served to protect us and the liberties and principles of the United States. We thank you for your service this day. It is a rough transition to fantasy baseball, but Memorial Day has become a big day in the Major League Baseball season. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the news of the day in Rounding The Bases.
According to reliable sources such as the internet and high school students, Tuesday is the least popular day of the week. In an effort to bring some respect, credibility and entertainment back to Tuesdays, I will be paying homage to David Letterman and provide a weekly Top 10 list for newsworthy fantasy baseball events that take place. Each event will have a brief description including what, if any, impact it has on fantasy baseball. The ranking is completely subjective so do not even think of challenging my authority. In fact, in the words of Eric Cartman, you will respect my authority! Without further adieu, here is the debut of the new Tuesday Top Ten List (as of 10:15 PM EST):
I hate to kick a guy while he is down, but is it all over for Francisco Liriano? He came into the year with great expectations and he has done nothing but flop on his face and he did so in monumental fashion on Wednesday. Liriano threw 83 pitches in just three innings on his way to giving up seven runs. He did strike out four, but he also walked four in what could only be described as a disaster. I actually had picked up Liriano in a league over the weekend, and I am not ready to jettison him back to free agency just yet, but two or three more starts like this and I will be forced to throw in the towel on him. Try to remain patient, but I can't blame you right now if you can't be.
Happy Hump Day to you all as we are in the middle of another fine fantasy week in the regular season. Tonight on the pitching side we see what could be the end of a closer in Chicago, a major concern in Minnesota, one ace rolling again and another one on the mend. The guys with the bats in their hands see a couple of Jeff's favorites going yard, an under the radar shortstop staying hot, and a change of identity in St. Louis. We also run down some of the guys who let the dogs out tonight on both sides of the diamond. We hope that your teams are absolutely crushing the competition, but if you need some help don't forget that you can send an email which is located in the article below. Sit back, pop a cold one, and enjoy the show!
The first weekend of the regular season is upon us and players are still just getting their feet wet. We have a bunch of pitchers with high expectations getting off to slow starts, and a few under the radar guys who looked like world beaters. There is some injury news tonight about one of the top pitchers, the top closers, and one of the top young hitters in baseball. As always, sign up for the Fantasy Alarm service to have updates on your players sent to you either by text message or emailed directly to your inbox. It is the fantasy owner's best friend. I just have one question for you....
