With a left-handed pitcher going against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, Jake Lamb will yield third base to Phil Gosselin. Lamb is hitting just .125 against left-handed pitching this year. Lamb is having a very good year overall though, hitting .280 with seven home runs and 26 runs batted in, while OPSing a stellar .886. Gosselin will hit second for the Diamondbacks today with Lamb on the bench.
Castillo will get the day off as the Diamondbacks take on Drew Pomeranz and the San Diego Padres. Castillo has not had a multi-hit game in 11 games, but has seven home runs and 20 runs batted in this season. Chris Herrmann will be behind the plate for the Diamonbacks and will hit seventh. Herrmann has been solid this year, hitting .307 with five home runs and 19 runs batted in.
After being hit in the foot with a pitch in yesterday's game, Ortiz will get the day off today. It doesn't appear that the injury is too serious, as Ortiz stayed in the game last night and slugged a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning. Hanley Ramirez will handle the designated hitter duties for today, but I'd expect to see Ortiz return back to the lineup as soon as possible.
With the right-handed Doug Fister pitching for the Astros today, Cron will sit this game out as the left-handed hitting Kaleb Cowart will play first base and hit ninth for the Angels. Fister has allowed left-handed hitters to hit over .300 against him this year, so it makes sense that Cowart would play today. This will be Cowart's first start at first base in his career for the Angels. He hit .174 in 52 plate appearances for the Angels in 2015.
Harrison will ride the bench today for the Pirates as they take on the Rangers. Harrison has been solid this season for the Pirates, hitting .321 with two home runs and 25 runs batted in. Sean Rodriguez will play second base and hit 7th for the Pirates today.
Ortiz will sit today after being hit by a pitch in the foot during Saturday's game. Ortiz stayed in the game yesterday and hit a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning, but will get a day off to rest today. This is unfortunate for Ortiz owners, as he has hit the cover off the ball this year, hitting .339 with 13 home runs and 46 runs batted in. He also would have had a great matchup today against R.A. Dickey, who is very prone to giving up the long ball. Hanley Ramirez will be the designated hitter and hit fifth for the Red Sox today.
Much like Gregory Polanco, the left-handed hitting Jaso will have the night off against left-handed pitcher Martin Perez. Perez has held left-handed hitters to a .159 batting average so far in 2016. Right-handed hitting David Freese will get the start at first for the Pirates and hit third. Freese is 3-for-9 in his career against Perez.
Andrus, who has played 45 of the Rangers 49 games in 2016, will get a rest today as the Rangers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Andrus has hit .281 this year with one home run and 17 runs batted in. Hanser Alberto will play shortstop and hit ninth for the Rangers as they come up against Francisco Liriano on the mound. Alberto is just 6-for-34 from the plate this year, so I would steer clear of him for fantasy purposes.
