Matt Szczur (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Szczur was forced to leave Monday's game after feeling tightness in his hamstring and after the MRI has landed the DL. Szczur had played a fourth outfielder of sorts prior to the injury but will now hang on the bench for a couple of weeks. It is believed that he will be ready to be activated as soon as he's eligible. In the meantime Ryan Kalish has been called-up to fill his roster spot.

J.J. Hardy (foot) said he would be in walking boot for 2-3 weeks and is not sure about his timetable to return.

A walking boot is the standard first step in healing from the type of broken foot Hardy suffered. The initial timeline for his return was 6-8 weeks but it sounds like that would be news to Hardy. In the meantime Ryan Flaherty will fill in for him at short and pending any setback the original two month span should hold.

J.T. Realmuto will bat leadoff against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

This is something you don't see everyday. A catcher batting leadoff. Dee Gordon was the everyday leadoff bat but with him gone for the next 80 games, Miami now needs to see who they can put at the top to fill in for him. Realmuto does have some speed for a catcher, having the ability to steal 12-15 bags, but whether he sticks there full-time or not, only time will tell.

Mike Moustakas is not in the Royals' starting lineup against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Moustakas has now missed the last two games after getting what was thought to be a day off on Monday. Whether he is dealing with something or not is unclear but Christian Colon will bat eighth and handle the duties at third again on Tuesday.

Zach Britton (ankle) will play catch on Tuesday and could return to the Orioles' bullpen at some point this week.

Though it was a scary moment when he tried to field the Adam Eaton bunt on Saturday that resulted in him leaving the game. X-Rays and an MRI both came back clean indicating it won't be a long absence for him. In the meantime Darren O'Day could get saves this week, if the O's are in a tight game.
