There are plenty of names that are still available in the world of major league baseball. Some names are significant (Lohse), while others are middling (Thome), while still others are flat out snooze fests (Abreu). Still, all could have a league specific role of note so they are worth discussing. Also worth break down is the Marlins' bullpen situation. Could the Fish be looking to bring in some late inning depth in the form of an arm that has accrued at least 25 saves in each of the past six seasons? Finally, what do Longoria and Sandoval have in common? They both have a lot to prove in 2013.
Ever wonder where the Angels would have been had Mike Trout not been called up to save the day? Angels fans shudder to think about it and fantasy owners of Trout want little to do with a baseball world that doesn’t include the 20-year old center fielder. With his incredibly humble, team-first attitude and his .355-64-13-44-30 batting line, Trout has injected new life into this game that simply gets everyone excited about the game.
Lance Berkman may or may not be done fore the rest of the 2012 season, we're just not sure yet. Ryan Braun --- so much for the concerns that he wouldn't be able to produce this season because of the off the field stuff that was swirling around him. Dee Gordon has been awful this season, so much so that he's lost his spot in the Dodgers order. Who is likely to hit atop the lineup? Roy Oswalt wants to pitch for a contender near his Mississippi home. He might get his wish. I'll also give you three names of players who have been tearing it up at the dish the past two weeks.
Usually this section is reserved for one item in particular that either grabs my attention or something specific that really sticks in my craw – wow, do I sound like an 82 year old man yelling at kids to stay off of my lawn when I use that expression? – and commands my undivided attention. But with so much happening in the baseball world right now, I can’t even bring myself to focus on just one topic. Blame baseball for being so damn exciting or blame my scattered thought on sleep deprivation. Whatever the case may be, I’m going to break from our usual format and just hit you with some rapid fire baseball thoughts that are wrap up the events of yesterday and impact the fantasy baseball community at the same time.
We love stars. We fall all over our self to see them perform, trample little kids to get their autographs, and hang their pictures on our walls (come on, you remember your Elle Macpherson Sports Illustrated pictures that adorned your walls). Today I'll give my thoughts on a handful of fellas who have names that might outpace their actual production in 2012.
