Jonathan Lucroy Headshot

The Mets are reportedly unlikely to trade for Jonathan Lucroy. They are prioritizing a reliever before the deadline.

Earlier it was reported the Mets were close to acquiring Lucroy, but it appears that is no longer the case. Lucroy and Travis d'Arnaud would most likely keep similar roles with their new teams, so their fantasy values should be about the same.

Jeff Francoeur Headshot

The Braves are not shopping Jeff Francouer. He is making just $1 million this season, and the Braves value his leadership.

This could simply be a ploy to drive up Francoeur's trade value, but it is not like Atlanta would be missing out a ton by holding onto him. Francouer will be a fifth outfielder no matter where he ends up, giving him little fantasy value regardless.

Welington Castillo Headshot

Welington Castillo went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Reds.

Castillo has been ice cold at the plate over the past few weeks, but he may have gotten back on track Sunday afternoon. The stocky backstop belted his 11th homer of the season and first since July 2nd in the third inning. Castillo is prone to streakiness and power surges, so it is probably time to get him back in fantasy lineups.

Paul Goldschmidt Headshot

Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Reds.

After going just 3-for-20 with no extra-base hits over the last six games, Goldschmidt got back to producing Sunday afternoon. The four-time All-Star cracked his 17th home run of the year in the fifth inning of this victory. Through 96 games this season, Goldschmidt is sporting a strong .914 OPS with 39 extra-base hits, 63 RBI, 58 runs and 13 stolen bases.

Zack Godley Headshot

Zack Godley logged 5.2 innings in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Reds, giving up five runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out three.

Godley did not exactly pitch well Sunday afternoon, but he last long enough and the Diamondbacks’ lineup saddled him with enough run support in order for him to pick up his third victory of the season. The 26-year-old righty has made three turns in the Arizona rotation this month. However, he has largely struggled to find a groove on the mound, posting a 6.89 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 12-to-6 K/BB ratio across 15.2 innings. Godley is pretty much off the fantasy radar outside of maybe the deepest N.L. Only formats going into Friday’s matchup with the Dodgers.

Yasmany Tomas Headshot

Yasmany Tomas went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers and three runs scored in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Reds.

Tomas has had a power outage here in July, but he has been swinging bat better in recent days and put it all back together Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old slugger hit his first two home runs of the month in this victory and now has 15 on the year. Over his last five games, Tomas has gone 8-for-20 with five extra-base hits.

Brandon Finnegan Headshot

Brandon Finnegan worked five innings in Sunday’s 9-8 loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three.

Finnegan failed to last longer than five innings for the fourth straight start Sunday afternoon. Despite a couple of wins over the span, the young lefty has posted an ugly 10.90 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and 14-to-12 K/BB ratio across 17.1 innings. Finnegan has certainly had his moments on the mound during his first full big-league season, but has struggled to find consistency. He will take the mound in San Diego on Friday night.

Jay Bruce Headshot

Jay Bruce went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, four total RBI, three runs scored and a steal in Sunday’s 9-8 loss to the Diamondbacks.

If the Reds do indeed plan to deal Bruce by the non-waiver trade deadline, then he is certainly doing them a favor by strengthening his value on just about a daily basis. The 29-year-old slugger has now hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-24 with three homers, a double and nine RBI during that streak.

Melvin Upton Headshot

Trade talks between the Padres and Orioles have heated up with Melvin Upton for Ubaldo Jimenez being a serious possibility.

Upton has had a terrific season and has proven all of his doubters wrong. Even with his bounce back year and the Padres in the role of hard sellers, it's still a curiosity that Upton would be getting shopped like this considering his talent and value. With the non-waiver trade deadline hitting Monday, we will keep you updated on the heated talks regarding Upton for Jimenez as well as any and all other trade rumors around the league.

Jonathan Schoop Headshot

Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, and RBI and two runs scored in the Orioles 5-2 win over the Indians.

Schoop has been on fire for the entire 2016 season. All of his past peripherals suggest he is getting lucky, but we are almost in August and probably need to reevaluate our opinion of the Caribbean star.
