After playing in four straight games behind the plate, Gomes has earned himself a day off as the Indians take on Jordan Zimmerman and the Detroit Tigers. Gomes is hitting just .184 this year with seven homers and 28 runs batted in. Chris Gimenez will be handling the catching duties tonight and hitting eighth for the Indians. The 33-year-old Gimenez is hitting just .179 this season with two home runs and three runs batted in this season.
Price went on to say that he thinks that he will be able to find Peraza at-bats on a regular basis, which is a good sign for Peraza. The 22-year-old has struggled at the plate at the Major League level this year, hitting just .231 with no extra base hits in 11 games. Peraza does have the ability to play all over the field, which certainly will help him stay on the roster for now.
