P.A. Parenteau Headshot

Parenteau (finger) was acquired from the Devils on Wednesday for a 2017 sixth-round draft pick, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Parenteau missed the Devils last two outings and his injury may have lowered the price Nashville was willing to pay to get him. In 59 outings this year, the winger has managed 13 goals and 14 helpers, but registered a minus-16 rating. Once cleared to return, the veteran could knock Harry Zolnierczyk or Austin Watson from the lineup.

Andrelton Simmons Headshot

Simmons will depart to Seoul, Korea on Tuesday to join Team Netherlands in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, The Orange County Register reports.

Simmons will leave camp for approximately two and a half weeks to play in the international competition. The athletic shortstop has nothing to prove in spring training after he was named the Angels' everyday shortstop early in February.

Kyle Hendricks Headshot

Hendricks will make his spring training debut Saturday against the Dodgers, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Cubs have yet to use any of their top-four starting pitchers this spring, but Hendricks will get some work in this weekend. After pitching a career-high 190 innings last year, expect Hendricks to slowly build up for the start of the season.

Curtis Lazar Headshot

Lazar (upper body) was traded to the Flames by the Senators along with Mike Kostka for a second-round pick and defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka on Wednesday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

GM Pierre Dorion said ahead of the deadline that he wouldn't deal Lazar unless it was a good deal, and apparently he felt this one qualified as the right price for the 2013 first-rounder, who's just returned to the ice from his upper-body ailment. Lazar has been absolutely worthless for fantasy purposes this year -- one lonely assist and a minus-10 rating in 33 games -- but perhaps he'll see more opportunity with Calgary. He could also find himself spending some time in the AHL to refine his game.

Mark Streit Headshot

The Flyers dealt Streit to the Lightning in exchange for Valtteri Filppula, a 2017 fourth round draft pick, and a 2017 conditional seventh round draft pick.

Streit has been on something of a cold streak lately, recording just two assists in the month of February, but he is an offensive-minded blueliner who shoots the puck a lot (88 times through 49 games, to be exact) and can log time on the power play if needed. He'll provide a much needed boost to Tampa Bay's defensive corps, but it's unclear at this point if the change in scenery will help his fantasy stats.
3:01 pm (EST)
Greg Holland Headshot

Holland won't appear in his first spring game until next week at the earliest, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

As he has done in the past, the former closer is taking his time prior to entering into any game situations, especially given his absence from last season's campaign due to Tommy John surgery. Holland seems to be 100 percent as of now, and he should give incumbent Adam Ottavino a run for his money for the title of closer.
2:55 pm (EST)
Valtteri Filppula Headshot

Filppula was traded to the Flyers by the Lightning along with a fourth-rounder and a conditional seventh-rounder for Mark Streit on Wednesday.

With seven goals and 34 total points in 59 games, Filppula has improved his production from last season's 31 in 76, but it's dried up recently, as he heads to Philly with just two points in his last 12 contests. We can't yet say for certain where Filppula will line up with his new squad, but word on that should come out once he's able to get his first Flyers practice in.

William Carrier Headshot

Carrier (knee) is still unable to put any weight on his injured knee, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Carrier has been out of the lineup since Feb. 2, missing a total of 13 games thus far. Given he hasn't resumed skating, the winger is no closer to returning to game action. The 22-year-old is already on injured reserve and should probably be considered out indefinitely until he can at least get back on the ice.
2:45 pm (EST)
Hyun-Jin Ryu Headshot

Contrary to prior reports, Ryu will pitch a bullpen session Wednesday and is not scheduled to pitch in the Dodgers' spring game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

There were reports stating that the southpaw could make his spring debut, but it seems that the Dodgers brass decided to take their foot off the gas a bit and hold him out of game action a bit longer. No timetable for Ryu's first spring game exists as of now, but things should become clearer as he continues to throw side sessions.
2:43 pm (EST)
Nerlens Noel Headshot

Coach Rick Carisle initially planned to start Noel at center Wednesday against the Hawks, but the newly-acquired big man will continue to come off the bench instead, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

The Mavericks have a vacancy in their starting lineup Wednesday with Wesley Matthews (hip) out, but Carlisle bypassed Noel for the appointment to the top unit after the 22-year-old was 10 minutes late for the team flight to Atlanta on Tuesday. Noel apologized to the team for his tardiness and won't be subjected to any further punishment, but he'll stick in a bench role Wednesday as Dorian Finney-Smith receives the promotion to the starting five.
