Hunter Pence Headshot

Pence (side) starter Friday's Cactus League opener and went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Pence was dealing with a minor intercostal strain heading into spring training and made a point to prove he is healthy. After the game he said, "I have every intention of being ready to play every game of the season, so getting out there Game 1 is important to me." Fantasy owners should still have concerns regarding the 33-year-old outfielder after he was limited to 158 total games over the past two seasons. The recent injuries should provide a bit of a discount for a batter who has shown that he can still produce when healthy.

Deron Williams Headshot

Williams is expected to sign with the Cavaliers once he clears waivers, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.

Williams was waived by the Mavericks on Thursday, and the expectation all along has been that the veteran will head to Cleveland, where he'll provide much-needed experience and depth at the point guard position. With Kyrie Irving solidified in a starting role, the Cavs likely envision Williams as a backup who can run the second unit and occasionally play off the ball. The 32-year-old is averaging 13.1 points and 6.9 assists in 29.3 minutes on the season, while shooting 34.8 percent from three on 4.5 attempts per game. Williams joining the Cavaliers is contingent on him passing through waivers unclaimed, which is expected to be the case, but it's unclear when, exactly, he'd make his Cavaliers debut.

Corey Crawford Headshot

Crawford will guard the cage in Sunday's home game against the Blues, NHL.com's Brian Hedger reports.

Crawford has been racking up wins in the month of February, compiling a 6-1-0 record over seven appearances despite maintaining an underwhelming 2.71 GAA and .913 save percentage over that span. The 32-year-old netminder will look to pick up a third consecutive victory in a home matchup with a Blues team that's averaging 2.64 goals per game on the road this season, 12th in the NHL.
3:05 pm (EST)
Joonas Korpisalo Headshot

Korpisalo will be between the pipes Saturday against the Islanders.

The 22-year-old netminder will get his sixth start of the season at home against a serious playoff contender. Although Korpisalo's stats haven't been something to brag about (.902 save percentage, 3.27 GAA), his teammates have still found ways to win games -- the Finnish goalie has a 4-1 record over the five games he has started. Korpisalo hasn't truly proved himself in his small amount of ice time, though, making him a riskier pick at goaltender.

Al Jefferson Headshot

Jefferson (mouth) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Heat.

The veteran big man sat out of Friday's win over the Grizzlies due to a dental issue, and is considered questionable Saturday as a result. Lavoy Allen and Kevin Seraphin figure to pick up some minutes providing depth n the frontcourt if Jefferson is ultimately unable to go, but a decision is unlikely to be made until closer to game-time.
3:04 pm (EST)
Kevin Plawecki Headshot

Plawecki left Saturday's Grapefruit League game after he was upended in a home plate collision with Rafael Bautista.

In a scary moment, Plawecki needed assistance getting off the field after he was knocked off his feet when Bautista slid into home. It appears to be a left leg injury at the moment, but more updates should be available soon. The 25-year-old is competing with Rene Rivera for a backup catching spot this spring.
2:50 pm (EST)
Jordin Tootoo Headshot

Tootoo was sick for Saturday's practice, Brian Hedger of 670 The Score reports.

Tootoo wasn't expected to be in the starting rotation regardless of his illness, so it's doubtful he plays Sunday against the Blues. The 34-year-old blueliner hasn't recorded a point in his 36 appearances this year, where he has only averaged 6:32 of ice time anyways. This kind of ice time doesn't warrant a start in any leagues.
2:44 pm (EST)
Cam Bedrosian Headshot

Bedrosian (groin) will resume throwing off a mound early next week, the Orange County Register reports.

Bedrosian felt stiffness in his lower body earlier this week, but it was never considered a serious injury. Manager Mike Scioscia downplayed the injury Saturday, stating that the lengthy Cactus League schedule (due to the WBC) will give his reliever plenty of time to recover fully. Bedrosian is coming off of offseason surgery to remove a blood clot from his throwing arm. Outside of this minor groin injury, he is considered healthy heading into the 2017 season and will compete with Huston Street this spring for the right to be named Angels' closer on Opening Day.
2:32 pm (EST)
Miguel Cabrera Headshot

Cabrera was hit by a pitch in the arm during Saturday's spring training game against Houston but he stayed in the contest, MLive.com reports.

If there was even a hint of an injury, Cabrera would have likely been pulled, so there doesn't seem to be any cause for concern here. Cabrera will continue to work in camp with the Tigers until he plays for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic next month.
