Word has been that Taliaferro was healthy during the offseason, but the oft-injured running back is now apparently dealing with yet another foot injury.
Just a couple of years back, MInor appeared to be one of the league's up-and-coming hurlers. In 2013, at age 25, he won 13 games while posting a 3.21 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 8.0 K/9 across 204.2 innings. Since then, however, it has all been down hill for the now 28-year-old lefty and injuries have largely been to blame. Minor has not pitched in the bigs since 2014, but he is hoping to join the Royals in mid-August.
This does not appear to be a serious issue, as the plan is for Jones to be back on the practice field Friday. It certainly makes sense for the Falcons to take all precautions with their top offensive weapon, but fantasy players do not want to see this. Jones is widely considered to be one of the top overall fantasy assets headed into 2016.
It is certainly understandable that at least a few teams are calling the rebuilding Phillies in pursuit of Gomez. The 28-year-old righty has had a breakout season at the back of the Philadelphia bullpen, recording 26 saves while pitching to a 2.70 ERA and 1.09 WHIP to this point in 2016. The Phillies, however, apparently plan to keep their closer, as he will not reach free agency until 2018.
With Jonathan Villar (rest) out of the lineup Thursday, Elmore will take over at third and while Hernan Perez mans shortstop. Elmore will also be atop the Brewers' lineup opposite Diamondbacks' lefty Robbie Ray.
Villar was benched on Wednesday after some mental errors on the base paths and will be given a day off Thursday for the first time since in a while. Hernan Perez will man shortstop and bat fifth while Jake Elmore takes over at the hot corner and bats leadoff.
