It's Labor Day so hopefully you are all spending time with the family. Or you're sitting at the pool, BBQ'ing, drinking out of the keg, out of a paper bag, whatever... hell, I hope you're doing all the things I'm not doing as I work away. Part of that working fest this Monday is me providing a review of a handful of pitchers and batters that are in the news. None of them are really big names, figured it was apropos to deal more with lesser names on Labor Day, but that doesn't mean they aren't names you should know.
Well, folks, it’s getting to that point in the season where it’s time to start cutting down the fantasy baseball recap pieces and start turning our attention over to the fantasy football pre-draft festivities. Or, at least, that’s what I’m being told. I’m going to still try and make it over here once a week, if not twice, just depending on whether there’s some real important that I feel should be discussed. After all, there could still be some significant player movement with the waiver trade deadline still looming and once rosters expand on September 1st, there could be more than just a few gems worthy of using over the final month of the season. So not to worry…we’re not shutting out baseball altogether.
While those who don’t follow the game as closely as we do think the baseball season can be too long and arduous, I’m sure many of you can agree with me when I say how crazy it seems that the first half of the season has already passed us by. This is the final week before the All Star break and before you know it, September will be here and your fight for a championship turns into a one-month sprint after a five-month long grueling marathon. The break is probably a welcomed sight for a lot of you, especially those of you whose players are currently dealing with an array of minor injuries – not DL-type stuff, but enough to keep you out of the lineup for a few games. Even though it’s just a few days off, that can be a huge break for those limping out of this half.
