Arian Foster (hamstring) will not play in Thursday's preseason finale.
When you come to from your shock-induced fainting spell, you can move on with your life, but still enjoy the battle between Jonathan Grimes and Alfred Blue for the primary back-up job.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Red Sox have signed David Price for 7 years and $217 million dollars.
Well that's certainly a big splash from Boston who absolutely needed a ace-caliber pitcher to help out their thin rotation. An AAV of $31 million is what the deal works out to for arguably the second best pitcher on the market this off-season. Price also has an advantage over the other available pitchers in that he has spent the vast majority of his career pitching in the Red Sox division. Price should be considered a top-five pitching option going into next season's drafts. Analysis: Matt Selz
Golden Tate (calf) practiced in full on Tuesday.
With a full practice now under his belt ahead of Thursday's game he is likely to play against the Packers. Despite the Packers defense looking vulnerable recently they seemed to have regained their stride on Thanksgiving and could pose a tough matchup for Tate and the Lions. Analysis: Matt Selz
Norris Cole (ankle) will play on Tuesday night.
Cole is now set to regain his role as energy man off the New Orleans bench and make his season debut on Tuesday night. With his role mainly coming off the bench that limits his productivity and fantasy value so owners of his should expect less than starter output. Analysis: Matt Selz
Barry Bonds is likely to become the Marlins Co-hitting instructor.
A second act of Bonds' baseball career appears to be starting now in Miami as a coach of all things. The man is certainly a well regarded hitter but there is that nasty long-running rumor about PED use and connections to BALCO that might concern the average baseball fan. Mattingly has a history of working with suspected steroid users as hitting coaches with his tenure involving Mark McGwire and the Dodgers. We will all have to see how this works out but there is no doubt that he has a wealth of knowledge he can give. Analysis: Matt Selz
The Twins have signed Korean Byung-Ho Park.
Minnesota won the right to be the sole negotiator with Park after bidding the highest price for that honor. The deal the two sides have now agreed to is a four year $12 million deal. Minnesota has needed some power out of the first base spot for a little while now and that's exactly what they hope to get out of the Korean basher. With Park now in the fold Mauer should be the DH on a regular basis. Analysis: Matt Selz
The Astros are willing to trade Jake Marisnick for a starting pitcher.
Marisnick is a young and cheap outfielder who could draw interest from teams who may not land any of the center field free agents that are available on the open market. His main skill is his speed and stolen base ability but his middling batting average subtracts any bonus he may get for his speed. Houston is likely to only get a number four or five starter in return. Analysis: Matt Selz
The Reds have signed J.C. Ramirez to a minor league deal.
Ramirez split time between the majors in Seattle and two different Triple-A teams last year posting significantly better numbers in the minors than with the big club. In 20 appearances with the Mariners he posted a 5.32 ERA and 1.52 WHIP so if he does earn a job with Cincinnati, he will simply be a low-leverage middle reliever. Analysis: Matt Selz
