Andrew McCutchen left Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals, aggravating his injured rib.

McCutchen left in the sixth inning, but he fully expects to play in Wednesday's contest against the Cardinals. ANALYST:

Drew Smyly (shoulder) indicated he felt good following a live 30-pitch bullpen session Wednesday.

Smyly continues to progress through this shoulder injury, leaving a mid-April return as a strong possibility. At this point, he would only miss one rotation and fantasy owners wouldn't be without one of their impactful starters for too long. Between starts for the Tigers and Rays last season, Smyly went 9-10 with a 3.24 ERA and a 7.8 K/9. Look for Smyly to be a popular breakout candidate in 2015. Analysis: Colby Conway

Update: Isaiah Canaan has a right ankle sprain and will not return.

As it looked at the time of injury, Canaan did in fact sprain his right ankle. He will not return to this game and his status moving forward depends on the severity of the injury. Canaan isn't a pivotal factor on many fantasy teams this late in the fantasy season, but DFS owners who took a chance on Canaan suffered some bad news with this ankle sprain. Analysis: Colby Conway

Isaiah Canaan limped off the court and went to the locker room.

It looks like he sprained his ankle and the medical team will evaluate him back in the locker room. Check back on an update for the lowly Sixers point guard. Analysis: Colby Conway

Rangers assign OF Carlos Peguero to minor league camp.

The fact that the team is assigning Peguero to the minors basically confirms that they will keep Delino Deshields as the backup center fielder. Peguero could receive a call-up to the majors if injuries hit the team's outfield, but fantasy owners should leave Peguero off their rosters for the time being. Analysis: Colby Conway

Rangers assign INF Ed Lucas to minor league camp.

Lucas struggled this spring and will begin the season where he belongs, in the minor leagues. The 33-year old has played the last two seasons with the Marlins, but appeared in just 163 games during that span. His 162 game average numbers are uninspiring, as they would be a .255 average with five homers and 37 RBIs. Pair that with the fact that he will spend most of the season in the minors and owners should understand that Lucas shouldn't be on their roster. Analysis: Colby Conway

Chris Sale (foot) felt good after Wednesday's outing and is expected to pitch in one more minor league game.

Sale did exactly what was expected of him, but more importantly is the fact that he came out unscathed. Sale didn't suffer a setback and he appears very close to returning. He struck out 13 Reds minors leaguers and simply overpowered them. While he will still miss Opening day out in Kansas City, it appears that Sale is very close to returning to the White Sox. Fantasy owners of Sale can rejoice. Analysis: Colby Conway

Horace Miller was placed on waivers Wednesday.

Miller appeared in a few preseason games for the Panthers but did not make in impact during the regular season after being signed as an undrafted free-agent. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Chad Gaudin (biceps) will be reassigned to the minors.

Gaudin was an effective member of the Giants pitching staff back in 2013 but injuries forced him to miss all of the 2014 season. Though he will start the season in the minors he should be among the first call ups if the Dodgers need an arm. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Cesar Puello was placed on waivers Wednesday.

The 24 year old Puello reached Triple-A last season, hitting .252 with 59 runs, seven home runs, 37 RBI and 13 stolen bases but despite his young age the Mets decided to let him go. If he clears waivers he will become a free-agent and could end up signing a minor league deal elsewhere.  Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Update: Yankees announce MRI on Brendan Ryan revealed Grade 2 right calf strain.

Ryan was expected to be the Yankees utility infielder this season but has limited offensive capabilities and his injury should have zero impact on the fantasy world. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Rockies inform INF Rafael Ynoa he has made Opening Day roster.

Ynoa hit .343 with five runs and 13 RBI over 19 games for the Rockies last season and continued that success this spring as he hit .309 over 25 games. He's expected to serve a utility role for the Rockies but could see time if an injury or poor play plagues the infield.  Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Rockies purchase contract of RHP Rafael Betancourt.

Betancourt last pitched for the Rockies in 2013 going 2-5 with 16 saves and a 4.08 ERA over 32 appearances before being lost for all of 2014 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery. Betancourt has pitched well this spring which earned him a spot back in the Rockies bullpen but will likely only resume closing games if LaTroy Hawkins is ineffective.  Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Rockies reassigned RHP Scott Oberg and OF Matt McBride to minor league camp.

Oberg was contending for one of the Rockies final bullpen spots but struggled this spring, allowing nine runs over 6.2 innings. Oberg has enjoyed great success for the Rockies since being drafted in 2012 having saved 61 games with a 2.17 ERA over 108 appearances. He started last year with Double-A Tulsa going 0-1 with 15 saves and a 2.63 ERA over 27 appearances and should find himself saving games for Triple-A Colorado Springs this season. McBride was enjoying a solid spring, hitting .313 with four home runs and 11 RBI but the overall depth the Rockies have in the outfield will send him to the minors. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Rockies option LHP Rex Brothers and OF Brandon Barnes to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Brothers is coming off a disastrous 2014 where he went 4-6 with a 5.59 ERA in 74 games out of the bullpen and his struggles have continued this spring as he was knocked around for seven runs over 7.2 innings. Barnes played in 132 games for the Rockies last season as they dealt with injuries to their outfield but now healthy to start the season he will head to Triple-A. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Astros have traded infielder Gregorio Petit to the Yankees for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

With Brendan Ryan going down with a calf strain it looks as if the Yankees have acquired Petit as some infield insurance. Petit appeared in 37 games for the Astros last season, hitting .278 with 14 runs, two home runs and nine RBI. He was having a solid spring as hitting .320 in 16 games. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
